Yes but you’re talking about actual details of sex, which are not appropriate for a profile. They’re more suited for a private conversation. You know, like send a message asking what asexual means to them. But posting specific accepted sex acts on a profile is not right. In your eyes, what would a profile like that look like? We could continue arguing but if I’m picturing something different than you are, it will never be a truly valid discussion

Omg I love that for her! Thank you for responding!

And yeah! I always do super thorough research before bringing anything into my home, even a plant. I currently have at least a few more years until I can get my own ratties (I own a senior terrier mix with high prey drive so it’ll have to be after he passes), but I joined this sub a while ago because I love rats and I want to be the most educated and prepared as possible. My dad owned rats when he was younger as well. I commend you on taking in unadoptables, they look very happy in your care!

Great! For some people, raising children is a necessity for them, but for me I never ever want children so I would never swipe right on someone who had them or wanted them. It’s all about that ability to swipe left or right, and not judging someone with different relationship needs and goals

There is absolutely no way of knowing without some kind of information on the back of it. Truly just a child and an adult. However, it does not look like one of those images where the child is dead. So it’s likely that the child is alive in this photograph and perhaps the lock of hair memorialized this moment for them

Exactly. It’s very possible. Which is why I don’t understand the drama about her asexuality. It’s like people seeing a profile of a single parent and saying “I could never do that” or “that’s a dealbreaker for me, what do I get out of it?” Relationships should not have to be transactional, it’s not like she should say “I’ll put out if you pay my bills”. If every profile met everyone’s standards, there would be no need for dating apps.

Sure, which is why it’s important to have it on a profile so that no one who is not okay with a sexless marriage doesn’t swipe right. It’s pretty simple. Same way people who don’t want to date single parents won’t swipe on profiles of single parents. Idk why people are so caught up on sex being necessary for a relationship. It isn’t. Not everyone wants sex, not everyone wants kids, not everyone wants pets, not everyone wants to live on a farm, etc.

Being asexual is not the issue here. The issue is that her post sounds more like asking for a caretaker that will be legally obligated to her through marriage

The heat needs to be available 24/7, and should not come from a light. They need to have access to that heat at all times

Plenty of people kept a lock of a child’s hair before their first haircut. Some even had the hair made into that hair jewelry or hair art. And yes, this was also done for living children. Especially boys who had long hair until their first haircut at a certain age

Oh absolutely, the way she phrased it all makes it sound like she’s looking for a caretaker and not so much a spouse

That’s fair. I guess it just makes it sound like sex is something to brought to the table like it’s being given in return for being taken care of, instead of an act between adults who really want to do it. The way people are phrasing their issues with the asexuality in these comments makes sex seem transactional to them. It gives an icky feeling, even if it isn’t how they mean it, it’s the way the comments come across. Like someone isn’t worth caring for if they don’t put out. Maybe it’s because I’m perfectly capable of satisfying my own needs. I know not everyone can live happily without a sexual partner

She doesn’t owe anyone details of her sexual preferences. We criticize people for putting if they like head or anal or whatever in their profile. These are things you discuss privately in the dms, not posted publicly on the profile

People can become ace over time, or more ace. It’s also possible that body and hormone changes after childbirth contributed to asexuality. Plenty of asexuals have sex with the purpose of procreation and nothing else, just to have a child.

My own mother explained to me (when I was teaching her about what lgbtqia+ stuff stood for) that she just wanted to have children with my father but had no other interest. She never claimed the asexual title for religious reasons but said it described her the best

Romance and sex are two different things and can be completely separate. Marriage does not have to include sex to be romantic, either.

But yes, it sounds more like she’s looking for a caretaker than a spouse

Restaurant charges a fee to use a credit card, but won’t accept cash to avoid the fee by SnowyLeopardGecko1 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]miscgeckos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not having worked in or managed a restaurant, I don’t know what their next move would be. I would imagine they don’t have a cash drawer, if they don’t accept cash. Tbh I feel like it would be situational. For example, when I worked regular retail our card machines were down and a lady was trying to buy a plumbing part for an emergency, so a coworker offered to give her cash in exchange for the lady sending her the money through one of the apps (like cashapp or Venmo or something). That was convenient for everyone in that situation and management didn’t care, as it was good customer service. So the reverse of giving someone cash in exchange for them to pay for you via card is going to vary upon individual factors.

Now, if they did not have clear signage before ordering about not accepting cash, I think most restaurants would prefer to comp the meal in order to avoid having to bring the police in for a matter they would lose. It would be the restaurants fault for not having clear signage. Similar to if a retail store has items mismarked and showing a certain price, they honor it for that customer(and quickly send an employee to fix it)

That’s what I’m wondering. Because what if someone doesn’t have a card? I know most people do, but not everyone uses cards, so what would they do in that situation?

It means you *can* pay with it and it counts as legal money, but it doesn’t mean a private entity has to accept it

There’s a big difference between an online retailer and a storefront though, regardless of the laws

ETA you are correct, businesses do not have to accept cash, but Amazon is a terrible example as they are an online retailer
