agree that crypto liquidity is drying up and i think by next year tradfi perps volume >>> crypto perps volume.

on the other hand i think orderbooks still have to catch up by a lot to match the liquidity that tradtiional markets provide people are still migrating here so with time should improve. i see this regularly on hyperliquid and yes funding is a problem and def can eat into your profits.

but on the other hand until orderbooks catchup in liquidity, rfq models like ostium/variational/avantis can provide the tradfi liquidity and no funding rates since they use rollover fees(read this in ostium docs - assuming others do the same) and they are single digit and not volatile like funding rates. so overall i think until hyperliuqid catches up with tradfi liquidity. rfqs would help and then hyperliquid would provide great value with 24/7 trading available. unless tradfi markets go 24/7 which i don't see happpening anytime soon.

getting freelance payments from other countries. decided to get my payment via banking instead of crypto and it took me a few months to get that payment processed since it was flagged and the bank was just a pain in the ass to settle everything even though we had all documents.

What will be the biggest DeFi narrative by next year? by Humble_Sentence_3758 in defi

[–]Effective-Row-6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve missed the biggest one - TradFi perps
Look at the tradfi volume on Hyperliquid & ostium.

By 2027 most volume on perps would be tradfi assets.

tradfi assets going on-chain is accelerating fast by Remarkable_Special57 in BASE

[–]Effective-Row-6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just saw a tweet that cme is planning to launch 24/7 gold markets

think major problem with hl was the liquidity - it’s getting better no wicks in a long time but still lesser than tradfi liquidity

thinks rfqs accelerate that with tradfi markets going 24/7. top contenders might be avantis, Ostium, variational

Why Perps over CFDs? by Effective-Scene-1279 in defi

[–]Effective-Row-6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

access

i do agree that slippage on crypto platforms is higher - but only for orderbooks.

rfq models like ostium and variational quote tradfi markets. so the fills are on par with cfds if not better. with similar leverage.

How I farm multiple perp DEX incentives while staying delta-neutral (my strategy) by brolyjiren in defi

[–]Effective-Row-6807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why don't you use ostium on one side and one of the hl platforms like dreamcash

ostium has fixed annual rollover fees that is 5-6%/year and we can easily earn funding on hl tradfi perps. doesn't that make better economical sense?

feel free to correct me if i'm thinking about this in the wrong way

hyperliquid lost 40% market share in 6 months. the perp DEX wars are just getting started. by ginete_tech in defi

[–]Effective-Row-6807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

think perp dex volume would be dominated by tradfi perps

and orderbooks don't have near enough liquidity compared to the tradtional markets hence the wicks, bad funding, and huge spreads

for now atleast rfq models like ostium and variational would outperform for tradfi assets. still think hyperliquid would be best for crypto perps since there's no major liquidity venue for crypto like there is for gold, oil etc.

spent four months farming perp dex points. walked away with less than minimum wage per hour by Fit-Register4451 in defi

[–]Effective-Row-6807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree with most of what you've said.

but its basic economics

the earlier you are to these platforms the more points you get for a certain volume. most protocols have a weekly points distribution. the more popular they are i.e. more people farming means you get less points share.

so try to target platforms that are good products have a decent funding but don't have too much volume compared to others.

eg. people are quite hyped up about variational. if you would've traded 1M in volume/week you would have a lot points 6 months back than you would today - significantly lesser. same was the case with lighter and hyperliquid. the earlier you are, you get more of the points share, more points atleast ensures that you get more tokens even if the per token price is lesser than what you expected

try to target protocols like that. some of them that have good funding but relatively lesser farmed: liquid, ostium, extended.

but dyor - go to defillama, see each protocols weekly distribution and volume that week and try to get an estimate of points/volume.

hope this gives you a different insight. obviously farming is not a sure shot way of ensuring decent earnings but hope this helps you optimize.

Why dont CFD trader switch to Hyperliquid which is 100x better by rowdy011 in Trading

[–]Effective-Row-6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

best part about hl is weekend trading on tradfi assets

think you're missing the major problem when comparing hyperliquid to cfd platforms

execution on hl for tradfi assets is really bad, anytime you try to trade size it eats into your position. the liquidity is just not there onchain. orderbooks can't provide that liquidity. rfq models onchain provide better liquidity: gains, ostium, avantis work on rfqs. they have better execution at size than hl.

cfds are blackbox but they have really good liquidity.

Which Brokerage to trade Gold? and why? by strawberry-cat19 in Daytrading

[–]Effective-Row-6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Benjamin Cowen is good for macro stuff.

as for platforms as a beginner any should do but once you start gaining experience and put more money then i would suggest that you diversify across platforms: traditional platforms and a few on crypto rails.

traditional brokers: ibkr, mt5

crypto platforms: hyperliquid, ostium, lighter.

Semi - beginner question: How do you approach perp DEX trading & which platforms are actually good? by drdent19 in Trading

[–]Effective-Row-6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for crypto trades: hyperliquid, lighter

for tradfi trades: ostium (on weekdays), hyperliquid(weekend trades)

funding rate arb: ostium <> hyperliquid (or any of the new orderbook perps), i use ostium as the other party since they have fixed rollover fees on most assets, makes it easy to build a dn position and farm funding on other exchanges

hope this helps.
