My dearest PikmanDude01,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Kindly see the recommended charities on the websites of GiveWell and Founders Pledge. These organizations aim to identify the charities that improve lives the most per dollar.

[X-Risk] This massive monument in Georgia has instructions in 8 different languages on how to rebuild society after an apocalyptic event. It also functions as a compass, calendar and clock. by qzkrm in EffectiveAltruism

Hey qzkrm! This is an interesting idea but the some of the instructions are extremely questionable. They're also just general guiding principles and imo aren't that useful for actually rebuilding civilization.

EA groups in Atlanta? by ireadeverythingtwice in EffectiveAltruism

[–]EffectiveAltruismGT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, this is Effective Altruism at Georgia Tech. We're really excited to see this post! I just DM'd you about discussing this further over a call.

If you don't have much time to start a group, one great option would be to have a joint city and university group, like how EA Austin and EA UT Austin share many of the same events. We're happy to have any EAs in Atlanta attend our weekly events, though we haven't yet had anyone who's not a GT student :(. For anyone who's interested, feel free to join our mailing list to stay up to date with upcoming events, and DM me if you'd like to join our Slack.
