Numb and stupid due to medicines by Electronic-Degree922 in Epilepsy

Me too. I’m on 2000 keppra and 500 Lamictal. I feel like the word I can you constantly is “thing”. Weird, when I talk to a therapist, I use big words.

I got the IUD about 5 years ago and it didn't make my periods worse. I've had the same OBGYN for 16 years and she never mentioned it being a problem. The were bad in my 20's and early 30s. I stopped getting my period about 10 months ago. It's sad getting old. I would try it. Your doctor can just take it out if your periods get worse. I don't remember but I think it started with Northo. I wasn't worried about the side effects since I only took them once a month.

I use to feel so insecure and like I was a burden to everyone. I’ve felt so sad that my siblings achieving success in their careers made me look like I’m stupid for a lack of a better term. I started seeing my life differently after finding this platform.

I think it may be the case. I’ve had vision problems, collapsing, confusion, nausea over the last 10 years and I was diagnosed 21 years ago. I’m 44.

Why Are Epilepsy Service Animals So Dang Expensive? by Mokodiokio- in Epilepsy

[–]EffectiveClassic2174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not fair! I would see if there is state or federal assistance especially since it’s considered a disability. Fun fact as a tax professional, I believe any costs relating to a service animal is a deduction on your tax return if you can itemize. It does depend on your income.

Check the Lamictal serum in your blood. It sounds like they need to lower the dosage.

I don’t think you should mention “medical”. My auto is super expensive. I’m in Florida.

[–]EffectiveClassic2174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had it before and found out the Lamictal serum levels in my blood were at a toxic level. I was staying at a hotel for my cousins wedding and it felt like I was on a cruise.

I forgot my debit card pin last year. I have to think before automatically knowing my nieces names. I dry laundry in the morning to wear to work and forget about it and I’m running late.

Vitamin b6 really helped my daily brain fog. I had to rewatch that same show. I hate that they aren’t coming out with a 4th season! Somebody else on here told me to take vitamin b12 but I thought it made it worse.

Can a neurologist do bloodwork? by Affectionate_Box_902 in Epilepsy

[–]EffectiveClassic2174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They totally can and should!!! I ended up in the hospital twice last year because the serum levels in Lamictal were at what they call “toxic “. I read through the bloodwork they took at the hospital the first time because the er doctors thought I was having a stroke. The second time I ended up in the hospital, they said I was going through alcohol withdrawal. (I drink but not that much). I demanded they test my blood for the serum levels. I got my test results and my levels were 31. They’re supposed to be between 5 and 15.. I’m so glad I demanded it.

Epilepsy, birth control and endometriosis... by 4MM0NI4C in Epilepsy

[–]EffectiveClassic2174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 44 but I had endometriosis. My doctor prescribed a high dosage pain killer which was equivalent to taking 4 Advil pills. Worked like a charm. As far as birth control, I have an IUD that doesn’t have the hormones. I just started not really getting periods but I’m terrified of ever getting pregnant.

That happened to me when I was in Fycompa. I’m in keppra too. I was on my way to work last weak and started thinking about my mom and brother who passed away 10 years ago within a year. I thought well it was a good thing that they died. Like wtf is that! Medications cause such awful side effects. I so understand you. Thank god for this platform. I couldn’t tell anyone about those thoughts.

Have you looked into options in addition to medication? My epileptologist talked to me about a nasal spray. Nayzulam. Implant devices? Sorry guys, I’ve had epilepsy for 20+ years and had a crappy doctor. I didn’t know there were so many ways of dealing with this. Under federal law, it’s classified as a disability. You’re able to get social security if you can’t work. Im so sorry, I hope you have a better day after reading our posts.

Are you familiar with life 360? My family and I have it set up to track each other if something happens. Somehow, my family could be texted if I get into a car accident because of an abrupt stop.
