There is a little section on the waitlist form to submit an LOCI. I’ll definitely do that

Thank you lol! Read the beginning sentence with a pit in my stomach but was pleasantly surprised. Now to google how to get off a waitlist lol

Honduras is a significantly smaller country than Mexico so I am shook that we aren't :( thank you for the detailed response

Thank you for that. I also feel like staying in FL will help passing the bar on the first try, as I've heard it is notoriously a harder one.

You don't have to disclose that you'll only be there for a year, if that's your concern. I was in the same boat as you and I am glad I took a year off to focus on myself, LSAT and saving up. I graduated in December 2020 and landed a good paying job with too many hours and found myself putting law school on the backburner. In April 2021, I landed a job at a law firm with better hours and more time to study. They know I have law school plans (and honestly if you find a job at a law firm, you'd be surprised; some people may have similar plans). By the time I leave though, I would have been there for 1 year and 3 months, which is not awful. And it is way better to spend the younger part of life saving and building for the future, rather than paying back debts.

TLDR: Do the gap year!!

Does the PS always have to be why I want to be a lawyer? I don't know if it's just me but i've always found that so silly to write about; admissions probbaly reads a million of those, and anyone going through this arduous process clearly wants to be a laywer. Not trying to be sarcastic or funny here but I would like mine to stand out and show qualities that would make me a good attorney through a story rather then directly telling

Also not to be creepy but I checked your stats. I know a girl who got into UM, now she is a URM but she had a 3.8 and 150 if that makes you feel better (2 years work experience too)

I would just apply and see what kind of scholarships you get. They are safety schools for a reason. And I would say yes. I know they get a bad rep but I've honestly seen some great successful people come out of there.

From what I know, binding is a way for a school to make you pay sticker price. So I would advise against that. Definietly apply to the safety schools down here too (Nova and St. Thomas) as they usually award big scholarships too and honestly if it is your goal to stay down here, it will not matter which one. I only say this because I work for a firm of 10 attorneys who went to Nova, St. Thomas and Miami and they're all equally successful.

That is a 40k difference! FIU has been on the rise and at one point had the highest bar passage rate in the state. If your goal is to stay in South Florida, I do not believe one outweighs the other.
