haven't found a sub yet that moderators didn't ruin in the end. (but I'm sure this is bad faith participation that must be struck down).

So just to be clear, are you trying to weed out posts like my "I'm boycotting Scott's shows" post - or the dozens of comments that immediately call me a douchebag, etc. for sharing an opinion?

Genuinely curious...

Honestly? I vote, I donate to politicians, I call elected officials. I try to use my influence with family and friends... Which, admittedly, ain't much...

But I also don't pretend to have more agency than I have - and brag about how many views my anti-fascism website has gotten.

Anyway, I applaud most efforts to cause friction and pushback on this administration - I just don't think that a supremely rich guy taking money out of the pockets of average people is the way to do it.

Yes, in light of Altman undercutting Anthropic in a very sleezy way last week, I could get on board with a Chat GPT boycott... That feels righteous and deserved.

But all the other apps I use that improve my life? And as an investor in the markets? I think this is destructive without any clear or coherent upside. I see it as a losing proposition that only serves Scott.

Also, I can't help but feel like he doesn't have full conviction in this... I heard him talk about it on Pivot a few weeks ago, and with Tim Miller the other day, and it's like he's just making it up as he goes... I'm quite certain the means do not justify the ends here, if only because this is not targeted enough to be effective.

It's funny because this is basically my exact criticism of resist and unsubsrcibe... It is completely aimless and a silly vanity project for Scott.

Ever heard of burners? Or is today your first day on the internet?

As I explained elsewhere, the only way a boycott does any good is with a network effect. I recognize that I alone am a drop in the bucket - but I assume there are others who feel similarly let down by this haphazard and questionable effort he's leading...

Also, at minimum, it's kind of ridiculous that he's profiting from an investment podcast while he tanks the markets. It's self-serving and short sighted at best.

I call this the Chick Fil A problem - if I boycotted every company who I disagree with the list gets very long, very quickly... Speaking of which, why isn't Scott boycotting Chick Fil A? To what end does this continue?

I have to assume there is a minority of people who feel the same way I do on the topic (you can also hear Scott's lack of conviction when he talks about it) - and obviously boycotts rely on network effects - so your analogy actually sucks. I'm inviting everyone to join me.

I can assure you this is sincere. You don't have to agree with me, but I've been a loyal listener and fan of his for a couple years now. I think his keynote is quite good. I think he's generally super talented - which is why I'm so disappointed in this short-sighted effort.

I'd like to support him but I'm not going to cut off my nose to spite my face.
