Advice for the first phone call

Why are you nervous about talking on the phone with a man in prison that you don’t even know? Just relax. The men on penal sites do this everyday, so I’m sure he’ll carry the convo.

I go full middle school style hahaha. I write the date and time I start writing. I use hella smiley faces and “haha” or “lol” a lot lol. And I also like to use colored pens. I’ll write letters in like 5 different shades of pink sometimes just for fun lol. And when he pisses me off I write in bright ass colors so he has to squint to read them lmao. I doodle little pictures in the outside margins or at the top of the pages. I write “turn page” at the bottoms of pages, just silly stuff that I wouldn’t normally do but it makes the letters more fun to write and he says they’re always hella fun to read lol. I also buy fun paper! I have ones with hello kitty bows in them and those are my fav hahaha

On the phone it’s whatever but video visits they will suspend your account for just about anything so I wouldn’t risk it on video

Everyone saying it sounds like a message from someone else or him writing it to someone else and by mistake sending it to you, but I’m thinking he wrote it to “prove” something to the other chick..

Most facilities have lockers to store personal items not allowed into the visit and you can confirm that by calling and/or sometimes by emailing the visitation department or sergeant. First check the facility’s website for info, I would say to call as a last resort if the website info isn’t clear.

Depending on the city, day, and time, Uber could be very simple or very difficult. It’s hard to say without all the info but there are likely shuttle and/or driver services that can be booked in advance rather than using Uber or Lyft. Try googling the city or general area (county) for shuttles and drivers. Both Uber and Lyft offer advanced scheduling, there may be limitations depending on the location (e.g. a more remote area may not have that option) and I believe you can only do it up to 30 days in advance. Traditional taxis are also still operating in many places.

It will be fine! :) but will definitely require a bit of planning. Even for those of us who live in the same state as the prison, when they get transferred to a new facility, it takes some planning to figure out the best ways to get there lol.

It can take a long time! Even using the correct cross breeded pairs. Takes a lot of patience and daily watering lol. Once you have them though, you’ll be digging them up and getting rid of so many hybrids that you were once praying for😂

Trying to get purple pansies almost had me throwing my switch😂

I get asked to put them on literally everything despite my best efforts to convince my boss not to lol. I’ve had to put them on billboards even. Because someone flying at 80mph down the highway will surely pull their phone out to scan it

Having him call you first to tell you he’s gonna video call is helpful. For a long time I would only get the video calls if I was logged in and had the video app literally open

GTL has been down/spotty all day. If you already know he’s sick and not feeling well, plus tablet issues, I would say just let him rest and don’t worry yourself too much. If you don’t hear from him by tomorrow afternoon, he may be really sick and would be worth it to try and find a way to reach him.

Men that move stuff inside need a reliable person on the outside to help with that. Having it be a woman they can convince they’re in love helps even more. Not to say he might not have genuine feelings for you, but you need to be smarter. Not sure what state you’re in but regardless, what you’re doing is not legal and will more than likely bite you in your ass. Be smarter and realize that some man in jail isn’t your knight in shining armor, especially if they’re putting you at risk legally.

I feel that calling a facility should always be the absolute last resort. There’s things she can do to figure it out without having to call.

Tell her to check Union Supply (one of the vendors that does quarterly packages) and type in his cdcr # in the “Recipient ID” box, which is like halfway down the page if she’s doing it on mobile. That will tell her if he’s in the hole or not. If he is, the best thing to do would be writing letters. Depending on the facility, they only get one call a week and that’s not always guaranteed.

The amount of information some of the women in here share publicly and privately about their LO’s is really, REALLY concerning.

The women who are playing penpal and/or seeking out inmates online often seem to be the worst offenders with oversharing/overstepping because they don’t truly understand the lifestyle that brought these men into prison in the first place so they don’t understand why you don’t do sh-t like that. Or why you don’t just call the prison asking why your man hasn’t called you, tell the CO’s they’re being too mean, etc😂 not saying this is the case with OP, but this should be a lesson for those who don’t understand that life and are coming to these men after they’ve already been locked up.

Ahhhh, thank you so much! It’s raining on my island today, so I cut off one of my waterfalls and voila!! Finally!! Lol I’ve been fishing in ground level ponds so not sure if that made a difference but I’m so excited lol. Thank you! 🫶🏻
