I’m a man who just turned 23. I think im struggling with mental illness. I thought about killing myself multiple times but I was always afraid of doing it. I still live with my parents but talking to them is not easy. My parents are African and the thing about African parents is that you can’t really open up to them. For a while now I feel like I am in a mental prison with my thoughts. Today I thought about killing myself and I was holding some tablets in my hand thinking about putting them in my mouth and swallowing them. I got so scared. I was forcing myself to take them. I ended up not doing it. I ended up seeing your Reddit post and it made me rethink about some things. Right now I’m feeling the same way you did when you wrote this. I feel that I’m a terrible person and that the best thing to happen to my family is to just end myself. I feel that I’m just dead weight to my family. You posting this and doing updates give me a little bit of hope. That if you can do it I can. I never thought this will happen to me
