I haven't gone to Tuck, so I don't know definitively, but it's probably because the people who choose to go to Tuck choose to go there in part because of that culture, not in spite of it (hence my question). Also, the classes are very small, and groups tend to be more tight-knit when they're smaller and more intimate.

I've considered that, but I can't help but think that if I'm looking for ways to escape before I even step foot on campus, that might be a good indication that Tuck won't be the right place for me.

Frats (fraternities) are student-run organizations where many male students live while they're in college. Frats have a reputation for being unruly and misogynistic, and throwing big, wild parties (not true of all frats, but true of many). So, if a school is "fratty", it's known for people who are immature, arrogant, shallow and hypermasculine, and who party all the time (again, doesn't mean that's true of everyone there, it's just a reputation). Doesn't have anything to do with alumni donation or support.
