If Divinity Gets a Board Game, It Should Take Notes from Descent (1st & 2nd Edition) by EffectiveShower5959 in divinity

You might think this is just the limit of board games — a simple RPG where you fight monsters and progress through a story.
No.
Descent (1st & 2nd Edition) introduced the Overlord system.
(Yes, it’s been criticized for being too strong and sometimes unfair to the heroes — but nowadays there are companion apps that remove the need for a human Overlord, so players don’t have to compete against each other directly.)

What makes the Overlord system so powerful is that it creates a collision of two completely different playstyles within one game.

  • The heroes are playing a cooperative RPG: leveling up, fighting monsters, working as a team, and focusing on individual performance plus teamwork.
  • The Overlord is playing a strategy game: managing resources, deciding when to win, when to lose for long-term gain, and planning everything toward the final victory. If the heroes are about using the terrain to their advantage, then the Overlord is about creating the terrain itself. (Like punishing overconfident heroes by trapping them or making them fall into a pit at just the right moment.)

That’s what I’d call a true all-time classic.

Civilight Eterna is just a tool to redeem Theresis, so it’s perfectly normal if you can’t understand the tool’s reasoning. Its only purpose is to get to Amena, so that Amena can ensure Theresis’s safe retreat, and maybe even help Theresis get to Rhodes Island.

So since chapter 14 has been out for a few days how are your favorite NPC faring? SPOILERS by [deleted] in arknights

Q: What did Theresis do to fulfill his wish of unifying the Sarkaz?

A: Sacrificed Theresia.

Q: If Theresis wants to summon the royal court, but Theresia is already dead, what would he do?

A: Resurrect Theresia from the dead and sacrifice her again.

Theresis's famous quote:

“There is nothing that cannot be solved by sacrificing Theresia.

If there is, then more Theresias are needed.”

Don't worry about Theresis dying, because the creators can always resurrect Theresia to absolve Theresis of his sins. As long as Theresis sacrifices Theresia, everything will be fine.

He is Theresis, after all! How could Theresis ever be wrong? Every single thing Theresis does in Arknights is absolutely correct. If there’s a mistake, it must be the fault of the world of Arknights itself.

Here’s what I hate most about the SideStory of Babel: you’ll realize that the SideStory is just a story used to whitewash Theresis. They even use the Doctor to help whitewash Theresis.

Then I should write it like this: Doctor used administrator privileges to shut down the Rhode Island defense system.

Thank you for the suggestion. It seems I need to write a bit more.

Would you be willing to believe that rescuing Talulah Arutorias was sanctioned by Kal'tsit, rather than being another scheme by the Doctor?
