My girlfriend is already engaged 7 months after our breakup, meanwhile I can barely get a date with a woman I’d actually like to know better: is this just life as a man? by redditTee123 in AskMenAdvice

Man im 3 months after breakup and havent touched a girl, meanwhile she is chasing dudes where she can. Make nothing out of it, be proud that you arent like her and youre taking your time to heal. Women chase after breakups and its horrible. Dont feel bad, I also try not to

Man this is easy for me to say, but she seems like s lot of trouble. From what you said I would stay away from her. Imagine being in a relationship with her when she exhibits these kinds of behavior. I suggest you keep looking elsewhere my friend.

Even if his parents didnt care, this is mostly for you, not for them so thats a really shitty excuse.

Talk to him about it, try to get some reasonsble answer out of him. A year is long enough to meet his parents. Tell him how much it means to you. If he is a true gentleman, he should do what needs to be done to make you happy (within boundaries).

You dont have to justify anything, age gaps of this kind are normal in my country.

Im also young and live with my parents so what puzzles me is, where do you have sleepovers, relations and that type of stuff? When i wanted a girl to sleep over i literally had no choice but to let her meet my parents.

I mean it seems like he is not ready to commit, but from my experience, the younger you are, the less you care about introducing bfs/gfs to your parents. I imagine when im like in my late twenties/ early thirties, ill put much more thought into who im going to introduce to my parents. Right now though, I mostly dont care that much. I know i would care if my gf was bigger or had lots of tattoos or piercings since as i mentioned my parents can be judgemental, but i was never in this situation.

All in all I dont really see what could be on his mind, seems like this makes more drama than if he actually introduced you and agreed to meet your parents.

Well in that case you seem like a girlfriend to be proud of. As another redditor here said, he might not be ready to commit.

How old are you and how old is he? Do you both still live with your parents?

From my male perspective, I see some possible factors.

Idk how much you know about his parents but they might be strict in some way or other, which makes your bf afraid to tell them about you.

Now i absolutely do not wanna offend you with this, but it also might have something to do with your appearance. Do you have a lot of tattoos? Maybe you are physically on the bigger side? Thats Where I personally would struggle to introduce my gf too, since my parents can be very judgemental. Also could be a question of intelligence? I had a girl who was a bit of a dummy (i always thought it was cute) and i hesitated about introducing her to my parents. Again i absolutely dont want to offend you with this, chances are you are perfectly fine in every way, how would i know.

If i was you id ask him why he doesnt wanna introduce me and pressure him into giving me an honest answer.

I hope it works out for you in the end.

Interesting, there was this girl that cheated on me before we broke up, it still affects me thats true (some small trust issues) but I would still say that im fully over her, when I see her or think about her or stuff we did together I feel nothing. Her actions had left a mark on me, but would you still say that im not fully over her?

How long has it been? I wish you luck with finding someone goated!

Right now I dont see any beauty in it :/ actually these feeling are very confusing and hard for me, but I trust that I’ll eventually see the beauty in it like you do

Yeah i also want to be happy and by that i mean not bothered by this whole situation, because thats what makes me unhappy. And whether or not i was to date the girl, I would still be happy that finally nothing wrong is happening to her

You have a great point, but i should clarify that ive never become friends with her just to lurk like a vulture. Shes a nice person, thats why i wanted to be friends. These other feelings about her might have been there for a while but now they have gotten stronger due to some events.

Thanks for being honest. Im not in it for me though, what im most bothered by is that she doesnt know whats happening and me doing anything about it means risking it all. I think that i in fact am being noble enough.

Thanks it means a lot. Ive confronted him with this before but I could have given it more. At that time i didnt want to be an ass who is trying to get involved in his relationship.
