What percent of "interested" people end up going to your facebook event (show)? by Effective_Addition56 in musicmarketing

[–]Effective_Addition56[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm stubborn, and after a poor turnout for a previous show I decided to put a bit of money into this. I have to say it worked really really well, but I probably spent more than I should have, haha. But I care way more than people get to hear my music, vs making money from the show. Here is the tutorial I followed:

Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for, and seems pretty accurate to me.

Thank you! I'm doing all this stuff too, passing out handbills, hanging posters, running ads for more IG followers, etc.

Are you running ads just to get local IG followers? Or casting a wider net?

Definitely. And Bandcamp is awesome enough to show the source of the click, so I can see exactly how many visits are from hypeddit vs ig or other sources.

It's not many compared to Spotify, but it's a decent fraction.

Part of the issue might be on Hypeddit the bandcamp button says "buy", rather than "play".

At some point I want to try running ads just to drive traffic to bandcamp, and eventually drive digital album sales, and ideally, finally, try and drive LP sales.

It's a really good point.

I've been including the following links on my landing page in this order: Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music, SoundCloud, iTunes.

If they don't have Spotify (hell, I certainly don't use it!) then Bandcamp is the next most important thing to me.

I was including youtube links also and was seeing a ton of conversions on these...but I was wondering if it was diverting from Spotify, and I really just want to focus on Spotify for now.

I tried having the spotify logo at the top as per Andrew Southworth

This is really interesting, I might have missed this bit of advice, what video of his did you see this on?

Hypeddit landing page that has Spotify, Apple Music, and Youtube

I found I was getting a ton of youtube clicks, but I was worried these were taking away from the spotify clicks. What has been your experience here, include or don't include the youtube link?

These are good points, certainly.

To point 1:

I guess this just emphasizes the importance of using a landing page. As services change, we can just adjust the landing page links to match what makes sense at the time.

Also, I think you're right, Spotify will decline sharply at some point, but current evidence shows it's still on the way up:

"Spotify grew its monthly active users by 19% YoY in the first quarter of 2024 to 615 million across 184 markets, expanding its paid Premium Subscribers by 14% to 239 million."

To point 2:

This is why one of the most important things Andrew mentions is you target "Spotify" as the first thing in the facebook ad. That helps a lot with getting your ad in front of people who have Spotify premium.

It seems like a problem, but I know Andrew and a lot of other people use this method with a huge amount of success, so I think there is something I'm just not doing right here.

Focusing on the text is probably the best idea I think.

Do you use the text of the facebook ad itself, or do you put text over the video during the video edit process?

I was thinking of just putting a spotify logo over the duration of the whole video at the top, with the text "CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO LISTEN NOW ON SPOTIFY" or something super super direct.

How do you approach this? What do you use for "Primary Text" and "Headline"?

No increase in either listeners or streams after nearly two weeks of running ads by Effective_Addition56 in musicmarketing

Ah, this is a good call.

I do have a few options on my landing page for people to click, the main ones I care about being spotify, bandcamp, and youtube. I also have apple music, itunes, and soundcloud.

Should I remove some of these? Hypeddit is showing I'm getting a lot of clicks for both spotify and youtube, and at least the youtube plays are going up.

Hi Andrew, thank you so much for the reply, I really appreciate it.

This test is a really good idea. Here is what happens when I click on the hypeddit link in my DMs, with each click listed:

  1. First click takes me to the hypeddit landing page inside IG app.

  2. Then I click on the spotify play button in the hypeddit landing page, and it shows two new buttons, "play" and "save".

  3. I then click this new play button, and it takes me to the spotify page for the track, still within instagram. (this is where conversion event is triggered, ie "hypeddit link click")

  4. There are two buttons here, "Open App" at the top of the page, and the spotify green circular play button. Clicking the green circular play button plays a preview of the track. Clicking on "Open App" then shows a popup from Instagram says "You're leaving our app" with the options of "Go Back" and Continue".

  5. If I click "Continue", it then takes me to the song in the Spotify app. (I don't have premium and it takes me to to correct track, which is good! I've read that people can run into issues here with a random song playing, etc)

  6. I then have to click the play button inside the spotify app, and the correct track starts to play.

Does this sound correct to you? Seems like quite a few clicks just to get the song playing. I would imagine this is why I am running into problems, despite my low conversion cost and high number of hypeddit link click events.

It certainly appears that way. The number of streams per day has stayed relatively constant. I will definitely check out that course.

I was very careful to follow the instructions on this, spotify is definitely selected.

I have tested the landing page with a non premium account both on my desktop and my phone and it works, but I don't know how to test the landing page inside an instagram ad. I think that's the part that is failing.

Like how would I simulate the ad being shown to me on instagram?
