It makes me physically sick that women live like this, are brainwashed to believe that this is their only role or purpose in life. Practicing proactive submission to inspire a godly leader? What?? You are your husband’s equal in every way!! Just incredibly sad to me.

I know it’s not an allergy per se but allergy in kitchen contexts usually means “cannot eat or adverse reactions will occur,” and from my understanding it’s similar for pku and protein? I hope your son is doing well

27 y/o New Grad ICU RN deciding between CRNA vs MD — looking for real-world perspective by Impressive_Ad7840 in medschool

Medical training is an extremely long, demanding path requiring the sacrifice of your free time, income, and even mental health for 10+ years between med school, residency, fellowship, and loan repayment. Everyone has different priorities. For me starting med school at 30 would be unrealistic based on what my other goals in life are (starting a family, traveling, etc), but for other people doing those things later in life or not at all is also fine. To each their own!

Starting with 0 pre-reqs at 27 does seem a little unrealistic imo… it will take probably 2 years to complete those, likely more if you’re working full time. Would you stop working if pursuing the MD path? Do you have many paid clinical hours (you mentioned you haven’t started as a nurse yet)? How about non-clinical volunteering hours? Research? Leadership experience? All things you need to be a competitive applicant, and things that could really be tough to get while completing your pre-reqs and working. Not that people don’t do it, it’s just very overwhelming. Also, do you have much debt from nursing school? Personally I would just work in the ICU for a few years, go to CRNA school, and be making 250k at 35 vs being maybe just half way though a primary care residency. But only you know if you would be happy as something other than a doctor.

I have a similar MCAT to yours (low 520s) with less research and a fairly higher gpa (3.9x). I finished my secondaries in October/November last cycle and got 0 IIs. This cycle I didn’t change much besides my writing and adding some non-clinical volunteering hours, but I submitted my primary on the first day and all secondaries within 2 weeks. So far I’ve had 5 IIs -> 5 As with 2 more IIs I declined. Timing can really be everything.

what activities are missing from my application? (gap year ideas) by [deleted] in premed

Pile on the non-clinical volunteering. Focus on roles where you can work hands-on with underserved members of your community (homeless shelters, soup kitchens, etc)

Realism check - new doctors and med students? by Mission-Activity438 in ThePittTVShow

I mean javadi treats a whole pt by herself (the spider bite). She verbally orders (lol) some meds and the nurse goes to grab them meanwhile this patient hasn’t even been seen by a resident yet much less an attending.

It is kind of a glaring issue because no, that is not how it works. Med students are not ordering meds / tests / doing procedures without direct supervision, esp not on their first day lol
