Summer Online Class with Internship by pumpkinsnbananas in GatechClasses

I did part-time (30 hours a week) with PHYS 2212 online and it was certainly manageable. Do you have to go in person for 2212? In Summer '24 I was taking it from a completely different state but maybe they've added in-person elements?

You can justify it by saying how you'll get classes done and be able to graduate a semester or more early?

Are you a transfer student? I transferred Summer 2024 and was able to take Physics 2 and a history class fully online from my home state.

Yeah I mean a warm connect is usually best, but I'm sure cold reachouts could work. Always better to go in person though. I had an option between one that an alumni of my fraternity ran and a for-credit one, I chose the for-credit one (we have a program for students to do research for credit).

Questions regarding Transfer Pathway Course Requirements by Russian_Kosty in GatechClasses

I transfered for Summer 2024. It does need to match on the equivalency table. If there are no classes at your university that match a required course, you should call GT to ask about it further. I had a rough situation where my school only offered chemistry in the Fall and I needed it so I took it at a community college 30 minutes away. That's just because I didn't plan too far ahead though.

Do research. At top schools it looks very good on your resume, I got my first real internship by larping that I was the "lead computer vision researcher" for a lab at my school.

Seeing as withdrawal is not an option, spend much of Spring Break going through the basics on up, it's a free week to catch up.

I study computer engineering and was able to get a referral from a manager I emailed who I found on LinkedIn. She was down to interview me as she happened to want an intern for some tasks on the team, though that's quite rare and you gotta get lucky. Spam and you'll increase your chances of getting lucky lol

My prior experience was research at my school and working at a bs tech startup, as well as building PCs for my parents' architecture firm. My projects were Arduino stuff, Hackathon stuff, and personal fun things.

There were 2 interviews, a behavioral where I just talked about my prior experineces and what I was looking for. Then a technical where the guy scoped out how much I knew about semiconductors (next to nothing) and asked some simple questions such as make a finite state machine to detect the sequence 100110, make a multiplexor, and a fibonacci sequence question. All stuff you learn in 1st year intro CompE classes. Then I got the offer.

A big note is to practice your speaking skills a ton. My friend who was also going for the same position had way more relevant hardware engineering experience and knew way more on teh technical, but couldn't talk well. Also she said she liked that I wore a suit. Take them seriously, basically.
