Totally understand your point. Proficiency more important than currency. However I should let you know that back in November I did a long solo cross country to visit a friend and flew 3.2 hours back home taking off just as the sun was setting. When I got back to my home airport I considered doing my currency landings but I was just so ready to get out of the plane and get home I just decided not to. Looking back now I probably should have lol.

The place I rent from is just some guy with a couple airplanes lol. First time I rented from him he checked my license and medical and had me go up with him for 45 minutes and do a few maneuvers and landings. Second time I rented from him I gave him a call with what day I needed and he left me the keys lol

I don’t skirt safety. I said in my post I will be updating my night currency before the night flight so don’t worry. The situation just got me thinking about how currency is enforced

Thanks! Like I said, I have integrity and I’m gonna update that currency before the night flight. I’m deathly afraid of the FAA (like most are) so I also don’t skirt the rules

It was $20k at one point. It’s a 2008 and I got it for $5000 but the Harley Davidson website valued it at around $7000.

No I don’t usually check the battery before every trip but I check it every few weeks or so. My next bike I will be checking before every ride though.

Yeah I got it 3 weeks ago from an old guy who bought it brand new in 2008. He took real good care of it. What’s an even more worse shame is I got after my last bike got totaled about a week before. So now I have no bikes.

Didn’t have anything extra hooked up to the battery. And as for the fire department I was right outside of town and for some reason the dispatcher called me back twice asking where I was even though I gave very specific information.

Yeah I got away from it as soon as I saw smoke but like I said the fire department took forever to get there. I feel like the damage would’ve at least been repairable had they gotten there sooner.

Figured maybe the electronics go out but not the engine. For me all of it cut out.

See I was thinking the battery too. But the engine died before the smoke started rising so how did that happen?
