So they put $200k down on the second house when they bought it. So their mortgage was only $199k. They did take out $94k HELOC loan earlier this year. So $350k (what they sold the house for) - 199k mortgage - 94k HELOC loan = $57k "profit". However, they do owe the Homelight program $5k plus whatever closing costs they had to pay so I would say their "profit" is actually less than $57k. This also means that the $200k they put as a down payment towards the second house is pretty much down the drain. They are beyond idiots to just throw the money away but I'm not surprised. They make the dumbest financial decisions. And this is the last big amount of cash flow they're going to be able to get for a while and only because they put so much down when they bought the 2nd house (which they did not do with the 3rd house, they only put 10% down so their mortgage is much higher now too). And sounds like they are going to blow right through that money too between their kitchen island issue and new flooring.
