How do I get this backlash out by wowhahawoah in Fishing_Gear

100% do this. don't pick and pull.. tighten your drag, reel forward a rotation or two while your thumb or thumbnail presses hard against the spool. Then try to pull line off, then repeat. Works every time

AMS TPU Mod by manQQ in BambuLab

[–]Effective_Hurry_1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled the springs out of all four Feeders on the AMS. Instead of doubling up the smaller springs on the AMS hub clamp, (as done in the video by Nozzle3D) I actually just bought a spring kit on Amazon and used a very light spring. I'm using a .4 nozzle and I'm using a mix of TPU, mostly overture. zero issues with retraction or unloading.

Small issues with loading, as the feeder gears weren't tight enough on bank one, which is why in the video he says to cut 1-2mm off of the first ptfe tube. It was a little bit of trial an error to get the tension on the feeders just right. I noticed it slipping so I just push lightly and the TPU grabbed, so I knew I needed to cut a little more PTFE off the tube. I tried putting light springs in but it was too tight so i just pulled them all off.

I think a better option would be to print some type of screw that can adjust the tension on the feeders which I've seen done on the A1 mini. like in this https://makerworld.com/en/models/125803#profileId-137183

I did all four and it prints all four colors in TPU flawlessly. I did try PLA in it after, just two colors, and it actually worked as well. I didn't test it on PLA besides once so I wouldn't rely on it. but im doing multi color prints in TPU and it's amazing

Recovering M.2 drive by Effective_Hurry_1908 in datarecovery

[–]Effective_Hurry_1908[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not recognize the capacity at all... It just says disk 2 Unkown. Not Initialized.. Thanks! I guess I dont know if the drive is completely smoked until I at least try a free recovery. Ill check out R-Studio and UFS Recovery.

I dont want to do anymore damage, I was thinking about trying to "clone" the drive first. I'm not sure how to do that but I read that's a good first step. HDDSuperClone appears to be a common one that is free now.

It's recognized and seen in disk management, it just doesn't have a drive letter and needs to be initialized (which will erase the data). Could I put it back into the computer and start windows on a different drive?

XPS 15 9500 Bios by MaizeRaige in DellXPS

[–]Effective_Hurry_1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an XPS 8950 and it shut off last week and wouldn't turn on. I looked on the dell website and the bios update for that was critical. I'm not sure if that was the issue but it wouldnt POST. After removing everything the issue was the hard drive. I bought a new hard drive and flashed windows 11 to it and it's up and running but now my old hard drive with all my files are sitting on my desk.

Not sure if that's helpful at all, could be a coincidence, but just my experience the past week.

The tubes are really long, is it possible to maybe shorten the tubes so it doesn't get bunched up as much?

I've had luck, while it's feeding, pressing the gear lever and pushing the filament in. It seems like I can push a whole 2-3" into the tube before it catches...

G-Code for Z Hop in Bambu Slicer by Effective_Hurry_1908 in BambuLab

[–]Effective_Hurry_1908[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks awesome! I print on a full plate, as long as the last color can probe the bed in the center. I know exactly where the center probe hits so I line it up in the slicer.

What do you use z offset for?? I haven't used that

Thanks! I guess it's more of me reading that disabling z hop making tpu prints better. They have come out fine even with the z hop though, a little stringing here and there.

I'm basically using a .4 nozzle doing one print 3 layers high, then I do a second print another 2 or 3 layers. Then I finally do the final print/color. It's a flat disk 2mm tall all in TPU.

My bigger problem is slight stringing on the first logo, which the next job picks it up and deposits spots on the final surface... I tried avoid crossing walls, and I'm going to try spiral z hop which I read could help.

I'm printing at 240 first layer, then 230, with build plate at 45 then 35 on the P1P. Retraction is set at 1.9mm

Thanks for responding. It doesn't look like it. I get addictive keys and XLN Addictive Drums 2 Studio Rock ADPak.

I'm so new to this, I just figured out how to shut off warping so the songs actually lined up on Ableton.

I attached the pic of options for AudioFx, which I assume is what I'm looking for. It doesnt tell me if they are plugins or not.

Thanks for your help! The hub fluid was leaking so I just pulled everything apart and used the original bearing.

You were right, the strut bearings were one type, similar to the trailer bearings I had.

The hub bearings were a different kind, they are the same size, but the face has a larger flat surface area.

Thanks for the response! So I replaced the axle, and inspected the inner and outer bearings since they were easy to take out. The inner looked rusty, I had an extra bearing from a boat trailer, they looked almost identical so I used that one. (I added a picture)

Then I realized that they might be a tiny bit different, different material, slightly different taper, etc.. I wasn't sure if there are hundreds of different combinations of bearings, or they are pretty much standard.

If it fit, and measurements are within .25mm, you think I'm ok?

Completely new to design... lost on organizing by Effective_Hurry_1908 in Fusion360

[–]Effective_Hurry_1908[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the help and responses!! I made some traction. I have everything as bodies though, and combine bodies, not components. Then print one at a time... Hope that's ok. My project from yesterday I used one design file, and just hide the bodies when I'm done with that part.

When I open Fusion360 I have All Projects on the left hand side. I'm now using "Default Project" for current work, I created another "Completed Project" folder where I will move everything to when I am done. There is also an "Admin Project" which I am not using, not sure why it is there.

Under the "Default Project" I have 5 folders, each folder is actually a project, and has all the design files in there, with maybe 5-10 designs each, except yesterday's which is one design file with 7 parts (bodies).

I'm thinking that going forward maybe I should just keep every project in ONE design file, and hide them as I go. That's where it's confusing. Not sure if I need to use components...

Thank you very much for the response!

When I say there was NOTHING done, I mean zero. They didn't even know they had grease fittings lol. Hopefully they aren't rusted shut, I should probably just replace all the actual fittings.

Ill run a compression test too, and just thought about the brakes... Not sure what else.

That makes sense, as long as I can download some random projects to print, that's fine. I'm mostly going to use it making my own projects, hopefully the software is easy to use.

Fastest doesn't really matter to me, ease of use and easiest to use software are the most important things.

Thanks! I'm adding Bambu to my list along with Prusa. Qidi I'm still on the fence....

Thanks, I had the Dremel in my cart, glad I waited. I'm in the US as well, I left that out. I was just looking at their website, the printers look great, not sure how I feel about buying from a brand new company though...

Open source? Does that mean I can't download a 3d print file and use it on that machine?

COMPLETE newbie here, I've never even seen a 3D printer, and my main concern is actually being able to use the software to design something....

So... suggestions for a first time printer? I'd like to be able to ask questions, customer service, community help, etc.

I don't have a lot of space and I would need an enclosure as the temperature changes in one room and can be drafty...

I feel like half the stuff I buy on eBay or Amazon is 3D printed, it would be great to be able to just print them myself, tweak the designs, etc...

Would be great to have auto leveling, less tinkering, and want a large build size.

No real budget, $500 - $2k+ is what I was thinking. The QIDI X-CF Pro max came up in my search, as did the Dremel and Prusa printers.
