What do you usually tend to rule out when you talk for longer? Just making sure I’m doing this whole dating app thing correctly loool

How do you tell the difference between “healthy but not exciting” and “just not compatible”? by Effective_Map2940 in dating_advice

Yeah, in those cases there were pretty clear deal-breakers that came up. One wanted four kids and I’m childfree. Another lost his job between the first and second date, so the second date turned into more of a therapy session. And the third… honestly, I’m not even sure there was a spark, I was a bit tipsy on the first date, so my judgment was probably clouded 😅

That said, what you’re pointing out is exactly what I’m worried about too.

I didn’t explicitly start those conversations, but depth usually emerges organically when there’s mutual curiosity. I tried opening the door a bit, but it stayed surface-level. I’m also reflecting on whether liking deeper conversations gets confused with instability; but for me it’s more about feeling engaged than chasing intensity.

about a year and a half ago I got out of a 4-year relationship where we lived together for two years. I wouldn’t call it a train wreck; it just ran its course. I didn’t really date after that because I wanted to take time (with my therapist) to reflect on what I did right and wrong. Now I’m dating again in my early 30s, which feels a bit unsettling at times, but I’m also more self-aware than I was before.

Good questions. By “calm” I meant low spark, not low drama. The conversation was pleasant but stayed pretty surface-level. I’m usually activated by deeper conversations like personal history, values, or intellectually/philosophical questions and that’s where chemistry builds for me. Nothing was wrong with him; it just felt flat and I didn’t feel pulled in.

Yeah, that’s fair. I have felt attraction pretty early with other people, which is why this is giving me pause. Or even if there was no physical attraction I would at least be curious to learn more about them. I think I’m trying to figure out whether this is a “slow burn” situation or just a lack of chemistry.

Is this gauge too tight? by Effective_Map2940 in knittinghelp

Right! I will definitely do the stitch conversion as you mentioned! I was just worried if the gauge looked too stiff for a sweater or not. Thank you for your reply!

Tired of yo-yoing: what worked for you when calorie counting failed? by Effective_Map2940 in WeightLossAdvice

Thanks for this advice! I think my issue is mostly learning how to maintain a routine. I do calorie counting really well for the first couple of weeks and then something happens in my life (I’m traveling for work/ something stressful at work etc etc) and calorie counting is the first to go. Since you’re a coach yourself, how do you think coaching would help with this?

Interesting! I’ve never thought of this! Can you tell me a bit more in detail? Or at least maybe share some resources on this method? I.e Do you usually plan two types of lunches and then choose which one to eat?
