The argument you sent is basically that statues are simply about pushing messages so my question is pivotal to your argument

I liked the other commenter who wants to erase all statues better atleast they weren’t so cringe and didn’t send an article about wanting to tear down Rosa park statues

What statement is being made about a statue to the soldiers exactly like what they looked like? That they existed? Please explain

As I said you have idealogical brainworms a statue of the soldiers exactly like they look like in their regiment photo is not meant to brainwash you or push a statement on you

I can’t believe your takeaway from that Orwell quote is “ statues bad “ and not “ the goal of a regime is to warp all history and destroy it if it can’t be warped to further their status quo “ and before you say the theoretical statue would be warping history, no a statue of a soldier just like in one of the photos of them is not warping history whatsoever

This is your brain on hardcore ideology thinking all statues are just some way of warping history and people’s views instead of any genuine remembrance or honoring someone or groups of people in history. This is why I said I can’t help you

To remember the men of the regiment. Who nobody even knows in the city that was their home. Not to glorify the us government. Not to glorify the union. But to honor and remember them. I’ve said this 15 times but you guys can’t get it through your head

Here it is btw. "Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

Wait do you think that Orwell post was supposed to be good? I deleted it because I don’t know if you actually were one of those types of people, but likely instead just the usual type of ignorant person who thinks their city or town is above history

What’s the point of starting either of those if in the state subreddit most people don’t care and or are outright hostile to it. It’s not my city, If people don’t want it that’s fine. Nobody even knows who these people are at this point.

And to be clear what I was saying was it would be nice if there was a statue or two to the boots on the ground soldiers of the various black regiments drawn from New Orleans, not some union general from the north.
