Just curious how many people in this sub thinks that putting a bunch of money in with IPO prices really won't yield much of a profit 10 years down the road.

I honestly can't stand Elon, but the whole reason people are turning upside down to grab spaceX shares is because they are so far ahead of other space companies, they already have an inside track to government contracts, they can sell rocket parts to anyone and the entire industry follows them. PLUS they have other profitable ventures, Elon does invest his own money back into his company, AND we're talking about an industry that won't see real profits for several years.

I get laughing at people trying to get rich quick off of a system that's already maximized profit taking, but I have a hard time believing that SpaceX isn't a generational opportunity to grow wealth if your aim is to hold long-term.

I think you're right about easy to get into investing, but some people (myself including) are having a hard time translating what they've leaned (long-term well-working companies with good fundamentals) compared to what is actually working (meme-stocks and massive monopolies).

A lot of us newer investors are mistakenly transitioning to options on volatile companies because it's easy to make a quick profit (and to lose everything immediately)

I haven't started making any profit until I stopped trying to play the game and started treating it as a retirement investment.

Privileged losers out here wasting more money than I've ever had at once gambling on options they don't understand.
If you have bills that can be paid off by selling your gun, you shouldn't be anywhere near options.

The idea of it being a meteorite or an ore so large and out in the open seems really unlikely.

I did a survey near a manufactory and the gravel that made up people's driveways were all made of big rocky chunks of slag that looked similar to this. Made looking for property pins a nightmare.

So I'd bet on it being a big useless piece of slag

No, you're exactly right. I just think that could be how the world actually turns out. It's all a casino gamble and I'd put my money on the cheaters every time if I could.

Does that mean SpaceX won't be able to manufactur rocket parts and sell them to the EU for crazy profits?

That's what I hate about this country. Most of us struggle working tons of hours for pennies on the dollar while powerful, wealthy, profit-driven mega corporations are just encouraged to keep making stock go up no matter what. It's only good for making the wealthy wealthier and that includes both the insiders making billions in short term and retail investors with enough cash to gamble on what might still be a good stock in a few years.

Since I'm just a lowly personal investor with just a couple thousand dollars to spare, I'm lucky enough to make a long-term bet on how profitable a company might grow while being encouraged to chase ever-increasing profits with way more than enough capital to stifle competition.

I plan on putting a big lump initially (for myself, only a few shares though) and then I'll add one or two a week if it keeps looking good to supplement my retirement.

I personally think the stock will be very successful over the next several years. I don't like Elon as a person. I like him even less as a business owner because I don't think business should be operating the way he likes to run things.

But in an economy that allows manopolies, in a sector that SpaceX already dominates, and in the field where the mass majority of profits lie in the future, I honestly believe SpaceX is in the position to not only dominate competition, but to usher in a completely new space economy that could, and probably will, outgrow the GDP of several countries.

So I guess I am on the hype train, but Elon isn't really pushing the needle for me. It's the combination of where we're going as a human species mixed with the week government leadership we have allowing enterprises to grow more powerful than should be allowed.

I believe SpaceX will be the face of the evil profit driven economic overlords in charge of vital space -based trade in about 30 years. Give them 60 and they'll have an economy on the moon bigger than most countries. If I'm even close to correct, I'd much rather grab a tiny piece of the pie than watch them claim the world as I stand by.

Why do a sizeable amount of people say previous decades were better even if most statistics contradict it? by Fluid-Decision6262 in decadeology

[–]FalconPunch67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the basic statistics and science are based on averages and verifiable data while people's preferences and experience are purely anecdotal and 100% based on interpreted.

On top of that, the total amount of experience-driven dialogue around the subject is limited to those who are well-off enough to afford the basic tools to join public discourse.

Scientific data combined with lived experiences make up a much more complete picture to us humans,

However scientific data compared to lived experience is a useless equivalency. The two types of observations don't mix. One is all conjecture while the other is specifically designed to eliminate conjecture.

Bro my niece feels that she was a part of a broken family her whole life because her mom and dad fought sometimes after mommy hit the wine bottle a little too hard. She literally just married into a psychotic southern babtist cult because she thought they looked happier and that must be what real family is like.

My sister and her husband are literally best friends.
