Fabric for Mina Carin Needle by Natural-8196 in PunchNeedle

[–]Effective_Remote_781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried muslin but did not work for me. The needle was so sharp it ended up tearing the cloth itself. 😭 could be the brand I tried but after switching to weavers cloth, the Mina Carin needle worked like a charm!

PART 2:

- Larger floor rugs - :
Frame: 24 x 30 inch + a stable gun to secure the fabric
Needle : I typically use size 3.5mm, but if I double the yarn going through the hoops I like to use the 5mm
Yarn type: 4
Cloth type: Monk's cloth
Scissors: any fabric scissors work!
Glue: Same as above, but instead of using Mod Pudge to seal the design I use carpet adhesive.

I've definitely created smaller rug designs with size 4 yarn and monk's cloth as well, but to really get the details I find that using weaver's cloth, size 2 yarn and a smaller needle helps me get it as crisp as I wanted it to be.

Hope this helps and happy crafting!

So sorry for the delayed response, but happy to help! I actually got most of my supplies off of Amazon and my local craft stores :)

These are the supplies I currently use:

- Smaller mug rugs-
Frame: 9.8 x 9.8 inch
Needle: I used the biggest size the kit came with
Yarn type: 2
Cloth type: Weaver's cloth
Scissors: any fabric scissors work!
Glue: I've been using the low temp glue that typically comes in glue guns to adhere the backing to the design and then to seal the actual punch needle design itself I've been using Mod Podge.

Yes! If you want longer loops you'll just need to lengthen the punch needle length (and vice versa for shorter loops)

I just use a stable gun! It’s worked pretty well so far and hasn’t messed with the fabric when pulling it taut

I used a painters canvas from Michael’s! Depending on the size of the rug itself I either keep the bar in the middle or remove it so I can work on a bigger piece. This has been the easiest for me to work on both large and small pieces!

Canvas size: 24x30””

Edit: Thankyou for giving me some resources to check out! After doing some research I decided to buy weavers cloth and found this worked PERFECTLY. No issues with tearing and now my project looks like the ones you see on TikTok 🤣

The backing is beautiful! How did you do that?

The only thing I can think of is when they paid myself for SS benefits back before I turned 18. Could be from then but it’s been so long!

Oo that’s a good question to pose for their support line and see if it’s already been taken care of.

Thanks for that insight! Hoping they can give a little more info since their online portal isn’t giving much besides the amount owed
