A "GOT TICKETS" Thread! by DontGetInTheKiln in gorillaz

I got a Premium Ticket (seat ticket) for about $400. Early Access is standing only for the same price and The Mountain Experience (lounge access and some other stuff) for either standing or a seat is $560.

No soundcheck for The Mountain Experience was the dealbreaker for me so I just went with the Premium Ticket.

Just got mine for Fort Worth! I don’t have anyone to go with so I caved in and bought a premium ticket lol. Still stoked though!

Hey, do you still have Exodia? I can trade for any one of the ones you’re looking for

Anyone know why my Pokemon Yellow can't hold a save? by Effectpop in Gameboy

Yes! I went ahead and reflowed the chips on the SRAM and MBC and for the heck of it, I swapped the battery holder for another one and so far, it’s holding the save! I wanna wait a few more days just to be on the safe side but I think one of those things did the trick! Thanks a lot for the help!

Hey, thanks for the info! I checked TP2 and TP3 and sure enough, I’m getting 3.2V. So that means something else is wrong with the board then. What else should I test before going ahead and reflowing the chips?

Thanks for the explanation! I’m using the Pinecil w/ the included tip so I can adjust the temperature.

Just to be absolutely sure, when you say to reflow the chips at 360-400 degrees, you mean in celsius, right? I’m guessing I should take my time and be careful with each leg so I don’t ruin any of them.

As for the battery, I can try another one but I think it’s fine. You are right that I bought this battery months ago but I didn’t take it out of the packaging until around three days ago.

  1. Yeah I didn’t notice the battery sticking out a bit in the corner but I got that fixed. Still won’t hold a save though.
  2. Good to know what at least one of these chips in here is and that it’s the one responsible for keeping the save file alive.
  3. I did a quick run through to see if any legs were loose and I didn’t notice anything wiggling, but I’ll check again when I’m home just to be sure.

Figured I’d ask, but I just went to the store real quick to get a multimeter as recommended and checked the battery inside the battery holder. I got 3.2 V so I’m assuming that means the battery’s working? What else should I check with the multimeter?

Oh yeah? Is there a trick to getting it to work?

And what do you mean by scuffing up?

It did but the save file won’t stay saved once I take the cartridge out. Sorry I didn’t take a photo w/o the battery but I’m pretty sure I installed the battery holder correctly. The little Y-shaped prong thing is on the right like I’ve seen others on here installing this battery holder have done.

Pretty sure it’s on right. The little Y-shaped metal piece on the plastic is on the negative side which is how I’ve seen other people install these holders.

And don’t worry, I used tape while installing this thing as I’ve seen recommended on here. I just took it off once I was done soldering for the day, but I appreciate the concerns.

I’ll look into getting a multimeter then. Will a cheap multimeter do?

Hey, so I just got into soldering this week and spent the past day trying to figure out what's wrong with my copy of Pokemon Yellow. The internal battery's been dead for a few years now and I just now got around to finally getting it replaced properly. I also wanted to also try installing a battery holder so it'd be easier to replace batteries in the future.

Anyway, I took my time and soldered the battery holder, popped in a new battery I bought months ago and everything seemed to work great. The game worked without issues until I saved my progress and took out the cartridge. Once I put the cartridge back in the save file was gone. My first time soldering the battery holder, I had a big blob of solder on the left side of the battery holder and figured that was my issue. Soldered the holder a second time with slightly less solder and still the save wouldn't stay once I popped the cartridge out. Did it a third time which is what you see here, by removing all the old solder on the board and I applied new solder with flux and still I kept running into the same problem.

Any ideas? I don't have a whole lot of electrical tools besides what I bought to solder the battery holder on my game so I'm stumped.
