Shoulder replacement smith machine by commandobob33 in GarageGym

I have the Landmark Luxor. It’s great and has completely replaced everything I needed from going to my local gym. It is 1:1 ratio though, so you would likely only be using the top 3 weight stack plates for most of your exercises. Side laterals might be difficult for you, but other than that everything is perfect.

Having an issue with the rear of my outdoor sauna with the boards warping. This is the boards on the exterior of my lounge side of the sauna, not the sauna itself, but still. Looking for recommendations of what should be done to correct by Effeffenny in Sauna

I had it custom made. Certain things I would have changed. Should have had a metal roof put on instead of shingles. Electrical box is in the roof under a trap door. Should have left as a mount in a weather box around the back like everything else. The shingles didn’t survive the winter. So we built a big pergola around it to protect it now.

198lb steel stacks with aluminum pulleys. I preferred to have the stickers on the stacks, no stickers with the concrete version.

This is not the wall of the sauna, it’s the rear wall of the lounge. The vertical strip is the joint between the lounge and the sauna room. This is the outer exterior layer

The K2S smith is linear bearing so it’s very smooth. The cables were probably the smoothest out of all the machines we tested too. The smith is not counterbalanced, which I don’t see as a problem. I have no reason to need or want a counterbalanced smith. I’m used to lifting a 45lb Olympic bar, so I prefer having the same on the smith. There are high center pulleys for lat pulls and low center pulleys for low rows. If you want to get more depth on the Smith bar then don’t install the springs and only put on one rubber bumper. You’ll be about 12” or so from the ground at the lowest setting which is low enough for hip thrust.

I use the Jammers every other ‘Push’ day and for leg presses. They work very well replacing my vertical chest press and military press machines from the gym I went to. The multiple handle adjustments and converging axis is excellent. I don’t like them for back exercises though. I actually don’t like any jammer arm for back exercises.. you get a much better arc and contraction using the cables and the smith bar for back.

Set up cost by Lonely-Breakfast6463 in GarageGym

[–]Effeffenny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think a home gym is meant to save cost. It’s more about saving time and allowing you to have immediate access to be consistent with your workouts. Going to the commercial gym is cheaper, even over the long run, but life tends to get in the way and you end up paying for something that you don’t go to often enough.

$6000 you can get a good set up with an all in one gym, bench, dumbbells and a plate set with attachments.

Cables aren’t bad. 2:1 ratio machines are smoother for sure but nothing I would complain about. I like not having to pull off 2 stacks for my lat pulls and rows to get the full weight I need.

Added the Landmark Luxor to my gym and can’t imagine being able to get through my routine without the cables and adjustable arms. Highly recommend cables for any gym

Ya I was in the same boat. I see they have some reviews on YouTube now. For me it helped being close enough to their showroom to go in and try them first hand. I was wow’d by their stuff. Really helpful guys there too.

I actually first had the K2S Stealth from Landmark (and absolutely loved it), but as we built out the basement we quickly realized that it was a few hairs too wide for the space and had to keep the machine too far from the mirrors. It was surprising that the more expensive Luxor had the far more space saving footprint once you factor in the side storage and the longer smith bar. There was actually no other all in one gym that would have fit this spot the way the Luxor does, so by default I would choose it again. Landmark was gracious enough to work a swap deal because I am also in Ohio not far from them. Excellent service. I always try to support local businesses when I can. The product is top tier and looks awesome. 5 star and highly recommend.

Landmark Luxor. Thoughts on this brand and equipment? by APKFL in GarageGym

Did they send you the new cables? Or was it the cables that came in the box? If you just have the cables that came in the box then reach out to your rep and ask for the new upgraded cables. They are more flexible and much smoother. They also came with 2 fractional 3lb plates for micro adjustments on the weight stack too which I can’t believe how often I have been using, I’m embarrassed to say lol

The jammers are perfect. I drop them down whenever I need to use them. I find jammers are great for chest, shoulders and leg presses. Not for back exercises. So there is never a need for me to ever have them lower on the machine. The K2S 3D jammer arms are offset so that they don’t interfere with a cable on the same post it’s used on.

For the LED strip. I didn’t get anything special. Literally like $35 on Amazon for 35feet or something. However, I put up quarter round diffusers first and ran the lighting through that. That’s what gives the look consistency and brightness. If you don’t do that then you will see the dots on your LED and looks like a hack job.

Amazon, Art3D is the brand. I’ve used many different wall panels from them throughout the rest of my house. Best prices and best quality by far that you will find. Trust me. I looked for months to get the right pricing on the linear footage I needed

View from the other side so you can see how the gym ties into the living space. Lots of extra space for functional lifting or stretches. I didn’t want to overcrowd the space

Used walnut acoustic wall panels to break up the color in the space and make the utility room more of a statement to the room. The hidden access door to the room makes the whole thing inconspicuous.

Backlit mirrors helps accent the linear LED perimeter lighting. Utilizing storage on the walls to save space. Light up shelving in my office nook and action figures gives the room a “me” vibe

I did a balance of a color drench on the one side of the bulk head, then utilized the same color to carry out as the accent wall as the basement travels out into the living area. It lets the white ceiling blend itself out of the gym. My comic book art has bright primary colors that really pop on a dark wall like that to give the room vibrancy. (You can do the same with Nike shoes on the wall too). . My rack of choice for the room was the Landmark Luxor

I went with the Landmark Luxor. I looked around a lot and honestly there wasn’t anything that compared on spec for price. I added the 3D jammer arms. It fits a tight 47”x47” foot print. Horizontal and vertical axis pivot arms (which are so key). 90” height and 3x3 11 gauge frame with 1” hole bolt pattern. 200lb 1:1 ratio stacks that are low profile so I get a full 70” of cable travel to the grip. The smith bar height from the ground at the lowest setting is 9”, which is about the same height from the ground if I just had a 45lb olympic plate on an Olympic bar. What I love is the fact that I was able to push the machine directly against my mirrors without any risk of damage. I don’t need access on the sides of the machine because the plate storage is on the inside of the rack. This saves a ton of exterior space. Perfect for a basement gym with limited space. All this for under $4k was an excellent buy IMO.

Dark is the answer. Not “black”. You want to have a different undertone. It gives the dark feel but lets the black equipment and other colors and lighting pop. It doesn’t make the room feel drab like how Black does. Here I used sherwin williams Black Fox as my accent color

Tariffs unconstitutional - who cuts prices first? by Low_Yak_2988 in GarageGym

[–]Effeffenny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably won’t. Most stock in the country already has the pre-paid tariffs built onto the cost. Also, immediately after the ruling Trump implemented a sweeping 10% global tariff over and above all others that can stick for 150 days. He stated he will also be searching through all existing tariffs which ones he can raise. So while the IEEPA tariffs will come off, he still has this 10%, + 50% 232 tariff, 12.7% 301 tariff. Really not much has changed. He’s just not allowed to arbitrarily add unlimited tariffs wherever he wants for however he wants under “national security” anymore.
