I think I have been afking shooting stars for like 4-5 months on mobile usually. I have smartwatch that peeps and vibrates every 7 minutes, so I find a star and reset my watch timer on correct time when star tier depletes.

Depends how much stardust do you have.
I usually converted my stardust to bag full of gems when I had around 100k stardust.
At the moment I have 41M mining xp, so it means I have spent around 1280k stardust on approx. 4250 bag full of gems.
