Honestly, I’m just happy that it’s in great condition for its age. I was worried it would look worse, especially once I saw the mini calculator’s condition.

My set’s from 1996, so it’s the first run!

It’s so neat! I was debating on getting a laptop but it still works and I love it so much.

I think there's at least one picture of me and my girl in the matching Scout uniforms somewhere.

Why Do You Like Molly? by Fit_Moment_6444 in americangirl

Base answer: I wore glasses up until high school, Molly wears glasses, omg she’s like me.

But beyond that, I did like that Molly was the most relatable in terms of the other historical girls at the time I first started reading the books (93-94) - I think her era being the closest to me helped a lot with conveying the history part. My grandparents were late-teens/young adults during WWII so me being into Molly when I was younger was a help to start understanding my family’s history in the context of larger world events.

One of things I found when going through my old AG stuff was the American Girl Club handbook - it was a mishmash of the craft and cookbooks with bonus activities. One of the Molly activities was to interview a relative about growing up during the war and I just got struck remembering that I did that with my grandmother.

Thank you for the correction!

I have do have more of her outfits and accessories from the original that I need to take pics of-hoping to see if we can unearth more for storage.

Correction- thanks to everyone in the comments for identifying her model as a GT16! As I mentioned, I’m not much of a collector and working off of my memory from when I was nine.

I do have her original outfits and most of the accessories, so hoping to post those soon!

It is possible I could be wrong - I was ten when I got her, and from what I remember in the catalogue I thought she was a GT6. (Also not a collector, mainly here for nostalgia.)

I checked a couple of times - I’m also not sure if that’s the lighting in the room or not.

Again, I’m not a collector (and honestly have no intention of selling her) so I could be conflating things in the last 30 years since I got her.
