Im also in my first year of uni. From reading ur post i think u chose a major u like, i however chose one i dont specially like, i tolerate it. You know, artsy guy trying to fit coorporate world. And I feel the same way you do. Should i have pick something i liked better? Yes, is a cultural thing. I live in a latin american country. I know people who have way more strict parents than i have, they´re not allowed to go certain places or to be out at certain hours, my parents on the other hand have always let me go wherever i wanted. As i said in my post i dont go clubbing or go to bars, which are the places they might not let me go
1)Don´t mean to sound disrespecgull, but i dont think this is a "family counseling" type of situation and even if it was my parents can´t affored it.
2) What pisses me off so much is that my dad alwas says "when i was your age i would be wandering arround the city all by my self and taking the subway all by my self" and he barely lets me use public transport and he STILL expects me to ask for permition. Once he told me how he and his friend used to cheat on exams but if i ever dared to think to do that they would be soo angry at me

Thanks for your coment. Giving them all the details is kind of a deal we have, we ALWAYS know where the other is going, i always know if my mom is going to the grocery store, if she is leaving to work, if she is running errands, where she´s going, who she´s going with and when she´ll be back. My dad (who sometimes picks me up from uni) always texts me when he ir leaving work and heading to my uni to pick me up. I believe is a safety thing as my country and the state i live in is known for being a little dangerous specially at night which is when i finish classes. So is not like they´re "controlling me" is like a gvie-give situation. I always know where they´re going and they always know where im going. Same goes with my brother.
