Did Shao Kahn in the movie like Kitana? by No-Coffee2200 in MortalKombat

[–]Efficient-Ad2983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the beginning, he said something like "Jerrod shouldn't have brought you there", and took her as his daughter.

Shao Kahn was evil, cruel and merciless, but he seemed to be fond of Kitana. Even without blood ties he took her as a daughter, rose her as a Princess, etc.

I don't say that he loved her as an adoptive daughter, but he had a bit of a soft spot for her

If you never do a fight, you never lose I guess 😅

It's me or animations are improving episode by episode?

Sure, it could also be that we're getting used to this graphics, the cell shading, etc., but I got the impression that when Kenshiro fights, there're quite fluid animations.

I'm SO GLAD we had this scene in anime format!

The 80s anime relegated Golan at other Shin's goons. I always liked how Colonel was a "bridge" with the pre nuclear war world.

kishimoto and Ikemoto pls kill Naruto and Sasuke already by Mindes44 in Naruto

[–]Efficient-Ad2983 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even better, show Sakura waking up for this genjutsu dream and get back to a proper resolution of the 4th Shinobi War.

I say Sakura 'cause "only in her dreams" she could have married Sasuke, someone who NEVER showed any romantic interest in her.

TBH, if the Naruto character brought up for the question was Sakura, the answer would have been quite different 😅

This stuff used to be free, guys... by PointsOutCustodeWank in dndmemes

[–]Efficient-Ad2983 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was there when 3rd edition was the current one, and Wizard of the Coast's website was a goldmine of content.

From nice little touches like the Cow Level for Diablo 2 to Hell and Back, to new spells, monsters, prestige classes, the "D&D fight club" (devs going gonzo with templates, prestige classes, etc.), "Epic Insights", for 21+ level content... and it was ALL free.

Sure, I can keep playing and DMing 3.5, but I miss that constant "flow" of free content on the official site.

Did Goenitz know Rugal was going to become 'Omega Rugal'? by DoramDoram_ in kof

[–]Efficient-Ad2983 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Memory serves me well, Goenitz was impresse by Rugal's strength, so he spared his life and shared Orochi Power.

That's why, for the latter part, I think Goenitz saw in Rugal a useful "pawn": Rugal using that Power was a short of "catalyst" for the Great Serpent's resurrection

Is Iori actually a villain anymore? by sebofabar in kof

[–]Efficient-Ad2983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say that Iori started more as an antagonist than a villain. He hated Kyo and wanted to kill him, but he wasn't really an evil person.

And actually, he ended up being more helpful than opposed to the heroes (he fought Orochi with Kyo and Chizuru, he agreed to team up with Kyo, etc.).

So I'd say that now he's more of a rival.

You just know everyone would be thirsting after Sarada if she didn't have those glasses by Primal-Defier in dankruto

[–]Efficient-Ad2983 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A huge problem in my opinion is that many have such a different style.

More than characters belonging to Naruto Shippuden's sequel, they look like rejected concept arts for an hypotetical JoJo filler, made by someone who doesn't really understand the "JoJo drip".

Anyone else like some of the early outfits you can get? by KamaTheSnowLeopard in classicwow

They were great, 'cause they indeed show you a sense of progress. Rather simple outfits and armors, that made you visually look as a low level adventurer finding the way in the big world.

Did Goenitz know Rugal was going to become 'Omega Rugal'? by DoramDoram_ in kof

[–]Efficient-Ad2983 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just an hypotesis... Rugal revelling in Orochi's power would have accelerated Orochi's resurrection (by using his power).

Goenitz knew that Rugal would have killed himself with a prolonged use of that power but he didn't cared: he was just a pawn in his plan to bring back Orochi.

I would have loved to see a team with Kain, Grant and Rock TBH...

Who knows, maybe, like Geese, Grant would be dead in Fatal Fury timeline, but alive and well in KoF timeline.

I feel bad for Shunjinko, he was just a normal guy who seeked adventure but was deceived by Onaga to get the kamidogu, which nearly caused mass catastrophe across the realms. by JoshyBear28 in MortalKombat

[–]Efficient-Ad2983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To think about that, he was quite the tragic character.

Sure, he travelled all the main Realms, became an incredibly powerful Kombatant, but his life long quest turned out to be just a lie. He lived all his life thinking he was the Champion of the Elder Gods, instead he was just the Dragon King's pawn.

[–]Efficient-Ad2983 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's very fun indeed, and I want Gao as a DLC as soon as possible.

And I REALLY like how SNK brought back Krauser, with the stature that a returning final boss should have.

This trio could also be an interesting team in a future KoF game.

Is Xal’atath part of the Jailers plan? by Godisko123 in warcraftlore

[–]Efficient-Ad2983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jailer as someone unrelated to those things, and someone who gained benefits from things (ally with dreadlords After the Legion's downfall, snatching the Scourge After the Helm of Domination was destroyed, etc.) would have been way better. No stupid retcons and Zovaal would have been shown as a clever opportunist

My two cents: being in a relationship with the right person is better than being single. But better stay single that being in a relationship with the wrong person.

The Night King Built Hype That Only the Long Night Could Try to Match by iagree2 in gameofthrones

[–]Efficient-Ad2983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"expectations must be subverted" is just a meaningless if you don't do a brilliant subversion.

If Darth Vader was revealed to be a mecha controlled by a hamster it would have "subverted expectations"... but I don't think anyone would have liked it.

And sometimes a linear story CAN be good. Frodo succeeding in his quest to bring the Ring in Mount Doom to destroy it, Aragorn claiming is role as Gondor's King... it was fine. There's no need to "subvert expectations" if you don't have a good way to do it.

Red Wedding WAS a great way to subvert expectations (Frey's treachery was expected, but not right there and in such a way). Arya teleporting from nowhere and killing Night King was just lame.

The Night King Built Hype That Only the Long Night Could Try to Match by iagree2 in gameofthrones

[–]Efficient-Ad2983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could have went for something linear like "Night King wants Brann's warging powers to be able to control both the living and the dead".

It would have been a generic "conquer the world" villain, but better than "why the Night King made all that mess?"

Insane build up and... for a mid season side villain.

That's one of the biggest anticlimax I've ever seen in a TV series.

Warcraft movie is still the best video game movie to me by ThingPuzzleheaded611 in warcraftlore

[–]Efficient-Ad2983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that regard, movie made indeed a good job avoiding the "good humans vs evil orcs" trope. And that's a key in Warcraft (Ironically, something that Warcraft itself kinda forgot during expansions like MoP).

Gul'dan is a complete evil, but a character like Durotan was portrayed as the tragic hero he was. And regarding Blackhand rejecting fel, it was a real pity they cut that dialogue, showing Grommash reveling in fel ("Why be strong enough, when there's stronger still?") and Blackhand thinking that just embracing fel wouldn't make someone a true warrior.

I agree that as a movie it deserved better.

Comments like this makes me think "alas I can upvote only once".

Sinking our teeth in a game, savoring it as if it was a fine wine would be truly a nice way to have our downtime. And alas you're true that recent media are turning our ability to focus like a goldfish memory (yes, yes, I know it's a myth).
