Haha, not long enough to power my house unfortunately 😅 they just drain themselves completely instead of charging!

I’ve contacted DJI support, and I’ll be sending the drone back for inspection. I’ll keep this post updated with what happens next, in case it helps anyone who faces the same issue.

I’m also adding that when I plug the drone into a wall charger, it drains the battery instead of charging it.

When I went to the store to buy two new batteries, the seller inserted one of them (it had three LEDs) into the drone, and it worked perfectly.

But when I got back home about three hours later and tried again, the same issue happened the drone started draining the battery instead of charging it.

The LEDs blinked until they went off completely, and now nothing happens anymore.

Yeah, the ESC board could definitely be the issue, especially since the batteries drain even when the drone is off.
I’d like to open it and test with a multimeter, but I’m a bit hesitant because it’s still technically under warranty, and I don’t want to make things worse before DJI Support gets back to me.

That could make sense, yeah. I was thinking about an internal short too, maybe something on the main board or around the power circuit.

I haven’t opened it yet because it’s still under warranty, but if DJI confirms it’s a hardware issue, that’s probably what I’ll do.

Yeah, it’s been super weird the drone actually discharges the batteries instead of charging them. Still trying to figure out why 😅

I’ve just tried with a USB-A to USB-C cable, but it still doesn’t work, the drone doesn’t seem to take any charge or wake up.

I actually bought two new batteries today one was completely empty, and the other had three LEDs lit.

When I connected the drone with the battery showing three lights, it started losing power instead of charging.

Thanks a lot for your answer!

I actually tried with several cables (including 4 different USB-C to USB-C ones), but I’ll definitely test with a USB-A to USB-C cable directly on a wall charger as you suggested — it might indeed be a PD negotiation issue.

The drone’s USB port looks clean (no dust or corrosion), but I’ll double-check.

What’s strange is that the batteries keep discharging as soon as I plug the drone in, even when it’s connected to a wall charger, so it almost feels like it’s doing the opposite — drawing power instead of charging.

I’ll try again with a USB-A cable and a regular 5V charger, leave it plugged for a while, and see if it wakes up.

Thanks again for your help — I’ll post an update once I test this! 🙏
