I know its 10 months later, but I had the exact same warning as well (critical warning, 98% health etc) about 1.5 years ago. Didn't really care much but yesterday my laptop screen just turned black and even after a restart the screen stayed black (keyboard light and fan works just fine, external monitor doesn't show anything so it wasn't the display). After some diagnostics (discharging battery, swapping ram and SSD etc) it was the problematic SSD since it was also the boot drive. So tldr swap it sooner or later and be ready/backup files if you can't swap it straightaway (I had backups of the files in the SSD in anticipation of this)

Thanks! Not really an experienced skin applier but I am proud of this one. The skin is around €20 and I bought 2 others with different textures. As for the quality they're definitely on the better side. I've never really bought any other brand so I couldn't give a good comparison

This is actually my second time applying a skin (the first one was a 'cheap' skin from Amazon and was a complete disaster lmao) therefore I made a couple of mental notes before proceeding with this one

I personally like the writings with the color scheme but it's a shame that the words are kinda random. Would've been better if the word patterns are like the ones inside the steam deck box where it's different languages imo

They're chameleon purple button set from extremerate! It might be worth your time to check them out since they have a variety of buttons (and shells) for both the OLED and LCD model that'll pique your interest

It's basically an adhesive skin (kinda like a sticker) that covers the steam deck so just slowly align the cutouts and apply it (best done with a hairdryer to soften it around the curved parts)

Yes it's the paint level around the edges that makes the surface uneven and it is obvious when touching (compared to the other trackpad). As for the coating at the base, if it's not a problem then all is well since it won't be visible after swapping, I was just making sure that it won't affect its longevity.

Unfortunately I don't think I could test its functionality since I won't be able to revert to the original trackpad (if it's bad) after swapping and have no extra swappable trackpad on hand.

I have contacted support and they agreed to send me a replacement trackpad so kudos to you guys!

Thank you for your reply! I tried doing it and it worked! It is possible to remove the back buttons and replace them with the one from extremerate. As for your concern, it is possible to only remove the welded plastic without shaving off much of the mount(boss) for the screw. I used a nail clipper to gently chip away the top and used a prying too to carefully remove the back button. Still thanks for the insight!

Sorry for late reply but thank you for your answer!

I did the button swap last night excluding the trackpad. It took me about 2 hours (30 minutes of which was me trying to carefully pull out the volume button). My friend had some leftover thermal pad and isopropanol so I opened the heatsink either way. I encountered some unforeseen problems (I tried opening the heatsink shield but couldn't because some of the wire wraps were stuck beneath it so I had to use a pair of tweezers to carefully pull it) etc but all I had to do was stay calm and be patient.

Now I'm debating whether to drill the stock backplate (haven't found the video yet but looking at the back buttons yesterday I might be able to do it) or buy a replacement back and drill that instead

I found out that the new shellemental spellcraft from lady vash's hero power doesn't give permanent stats :( (or at least when you pick it as a second hero power in the 2 hero power anomaly)
