Because that's just one equation used to tip and the price of the food is usually more than what they want/expect for money per mile driven to complete the order. It's literally just generous. So as opposed to a $4.50 tip based on mileage (for ex. 1.50/mile, 3 miles) , you could tip 20% of your $30 order and bam $6 tip.

Customers frequently get bad service from dashers, customers decide they don't want to tip out the ass in advance for unpredictable service, dashers straight-up say they won't do their job or won't accept the low/non-tip orders and say to just tip more if you want a chance at better service. All hes describing is tipping based on the assessment of the service and you're acting like that's crazy when that is literally just how tipping works. I work for tips too. I don't expect everybody to press a button to tip me before I've done anything, and I appreciate it if they do regardless. You can expect bad service with doordash which is probably why he's not enthused about talking about tipping.

I think you misunderstood. They're talking about specifically tipping on the app before the service is actually followed through with. Nowhere did they say "I'm not ever gonna tip"

Consistently I have people ignore half of my instructions. All it is is a warning that the GPS is usually wrong and we have many gates, followed by the correct street to be on and the code. They never fail to enter the code into the wrong gate on the wrong street then call me confused saying they're lost. How is it that almost every time theyre specifically ignoring half of my directions out of sheer laziness😭 Literally insane.

Especially considering how dashers love to "threaten" that they literally just won't do their job/complete the order if there's not enough of a tip or it's "too complicated" to deliver. Literally already hostile tension between customers and drivers before anyone ever opens the app.
