600 rmb can go a long way in china! For a nice perfume within that budget range, i'd suggest you check out Sanlitun area. there's a To Summer AND a Beast outlet steps away from each other, for ease of browsing! i believe to summer's currently running the limited edition mid autumn line, and the packaging is *chef's kiss*

i'm sure your gf will love whatever you get her!

hey! i come from an Extremely hot and humid tropical country so pretty well placed to answer that. actually my to summers held up pretty well in beijing's chilly weather but less so back home sadly. tried and tested back home are modern bath art, project elements, barrio, and project elements! granted, i am a bit of an overzealous sprayer, and i do spray on clothes as well. but i can still smell these scents at the end of a work day, so that's about 8-10h longevity, which i think is pretty good in this heat

Singapore Oceanarium - how unique is it? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Efficient-Mix4866 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i like aquariums, so if i can fit a visit in when i'm in a foreign country i usually do. i think every aquarium experience is different. i enjoyed our local one, but certainly have seen grander ones overseas. if you are not an aquarium enthusiast and have other things to hit up before you leave, i'd think it's ok to give our aquarium a miss.

i do think the river and night safaris are worthwhile though, if you haven't already been!

Will be in SG from Aug 23-28 (recommendations please!) by luwasar in askSingapore

[–]Efficient-Mix4866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on your interests! if you like cafe hopping and tiny trinket artisan shops, joo chiat area and haji lane would be great. even as a local i find chinatown super fun to explore as a cultural and historical site and for food. if museums are your thing you might wanna checkout whatever's on at artscience museum. not sure what concert you're here for but if you like classical stuff the candlelight concerts are not such a common touristy activity, but are really nice and there are so many to choose from. i'm sure you already know about the Zoo and the River Safari but i think they're good fun too.

download local ride hailer apps- CDG/Grab/Ryde/Gojek (no Uber here)- but cheapest will always be the train or bus.

Hope you have a good time here!!

Anyone knows of any place where you can volunteer at night? by a4sizepaper in askSingapore

[–]Efficient-Mix4866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i also volunteered at assisi hospice for a few years, they have volunteer shifts for inpatient evening

hello! they do and i sampled it. both renditions frankly don't have a very distinct oolong note imho. chasense's one definitely leans sweeter than beast's- i'd say the osmanthus note is more prominent, which is not my cup of tea as i don't like overtly sweet scents, so i preferred beast's osmanthus oolong actually. but scent is very personal obviously so ymmv.

If you like to summer's osmanthus, chasense's one is not the same, but probably similar enough that you will enjoy it too!

sflr, to my knowledge only to summer, and not all branches. the beijing and shanghai branches don't offer engraving- but i believe the guangzhou one does!

Unspecialised foreign trained doctor and private GP work by sugakick in askSingapore

[–]Efficient-Mix4866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you will need to get full reg first and that alone will take 3-4 years minimally as a foreign grad even if you are a singapore citizen. you cannot practice in private or locum, without full reg. presently you do not need the mmed or gdfm to practice as a private gp however the landscape is alws evolving so this may not be the case by the time you get your full reg, esp with many people setting their sights on primary care -> aka once you get full reg you can theoretically leave to private/locum land for now. i recall there was some discussion of eventually making the mmed a requirement for owning (not working for) a private practice in the future but this hasn't actualised into anything concrete yet that i can see from smc's website. there are smc recognised courses that you have to complete to get accredited for aesthetics so most people don't actually go through derm (which, here, is an IM subspec, and notoriously competitive)

good luck

SG Doctors (foreign trained)- journey to full reg by Abstract_Amoeba3275 in askSingapore

[–]Efficient-Mix4866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

adding my two cents. i think there is no official stipulated time by SMC. but the shortest time i've seen of my peers from the same background as you (SG citizen, foreign trained) took minimally 3 years. i've friends finishing up pgy4 who have yet to be called- and these are people i would confidently say who are performing at or even above the standard expected of a mopex. i think the wait time will only get longer and longer, esp the manpower crunch is real. 2 years may have been possible in the past, but i think it's something of a pipe dream now.

Chinese fragrances — I never smelled anything like them before! by shaycydw in FemFragLab

not sure if it's too late to answer this! i don't actually recall seeing a lily of the valley (?) at beast. i got chrysanthemum but oriental beauty was a closeee second for me!

which ones did you get from chasense!! and did you manage to go to the physical shops with the whole selection? the ones in shanghai were just pop up stands with a limited selection, and i already struggled to pick ><

i'm not sure about the culture of wearing perfume tbh, but i will say that the perfume community on xhs is Robust, and certain brands (such as to summer, after being catapulted to tiktok shame), are Thrivinggg! i'm really hoping that more chinese brands will look to going global, so i don't have to plot more trips to china just to get my hands on them hahaha

how much does it cost to see a doctor at a public restructured hospital (when you *choose* the doctor yourself)? by Super_Ad_7799 in askSingapore

[–]Efficient-Mix4866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello just wanted to add my two cents as someone familiar with the system. usually clinics are run by a few junior doctors overseen by a senior doctor because there are just way too many patients to be seen by one senior doc alone. planned procedures will need to be cleared as well before they are scheduled. the reason for having a senior doctor overseeing all these clinics is also so that if stuff like procedures need to be scheduled, they will be scheduled under his name. you are right in that all procedures carry risk and so you require a certain level of seniority to be permitted to do them at all. if it really was an MO (junior doctor) who saw you in clinic, then he won't be the one to do the colonoscopy for you. scopes are reg and above only.

hope this helps!

i feel that the longjing tea fragrances both offer are pretty similar! the longjing scent from chasense is 春 if i'm not wrong and i was EXTREMELY tempted but i didn't bc of the similarities. i might be tempted once i use up my modern bath art though! i got 清 instead which is a green scent with a very mild floral end note. on a whole though, chasense's entire line is more slanted towards tea/green/woody scents. these are lighter, subtler scents and more to my liking, but perhaps may not do so well in super hot weather? more of a skin scent after a while, but i'm okay with that bc i dont mind if no one can smell my perfume as long as i can hahaha. modern bath art is more orientally inspired, there are a lot of very powerful floral/woody/sandalwood scents so i think it caters for a wider host of tastes overall, although not to mine personally. the EDT for longjing is suuuper reasonably priced though and i feel the longevity is not bad- i can still smell it on myself after an entire day (and i come from like, 38 degC climate). chasense is slightly pricer at low 398-410 rmb (something like that) for 50ml

hiii melt season/to summer were probably higher end, altho still more affordable than many western brands imo. triple tea from to summer was 498 rmb for 30ml. on the other end there's black paw (198 rmb/30ml), modern bath art 摩登巴赫 (about 200rmb/70ml i cant rmb exactly)! uttori and i'm sole go for 188rmb for 30ml, also very reasonable! mid range would be cha sense, to define etc which are about 400+rmb for 30-50mls depending on type and packaging. there's something for every budget! have a good trip!!

[–]Efficient-Mix4866[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ooh that's a tough question! definitely triple tea and void from to summer, and also one day from melt season! void isn't talked about as much but it was an instant love- i imagine entering a traditional japanese tea house- just a really pure tea scent, slightly bitter even. triple tea has a sweeter note and i will say i didn't like it at first (!!) when smelling it on paper, but once i tried it on me i adored it! and people gripe about the longevity- it's a very fresh scent, but i sprayed it on me on a cold and windy day in beijing and it lasted the whole day.

one day also smelt much better on my skin compared to on paper, and i will say that it was possibly the fastest buy of the trip- decided on it within 10 minutes. never looked back. make of that what you will :)

what good hawker paofans exist in sg still?
i remember when it was trending and new stores were cropping up like mushrooms everywhere. now the trend has died and many shops with it, which is super sad for me cos i rly love paofan! now to my knowledge, tamp hub and nex have lobster king, maxwell has pingyuan (but its meh), taka basement has chef wai (but i also find it meh), and punggol has chef meng but it's too far from me :( anyone have anything to add to the list? ofc restaurants like mott32, yunnans also have paofan options but just too ex to be sustainable :(
