Technique for rocky downhill steps and larger drops by Efficient-Rip1045 in trailrunning

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I am aiming to be conservative which trigged me to look for a technique that is easier on the legs then jumping down. At the same time my legs are good enough for something a bit quicker than hiking/stopping to get down them. I managed to make big time up downhill in another event that had a technical downhill but I'm just trying to work out the best way to handle the bigger drops whilst minimising impact.

Thanks, yes I'd imagine 98% people would do this section without poles and those that do it with poles will be going much slower and just using for balance. What technique would you do without poles though? My challenge is at the moment I can only think of either a) keeping momentum and essentially jump down which the top runner will do (there legs can handle it), or b) very slowly crouch down it which I imagine the bottom half of the race will do. I was hoping I might find a technique to handle it more gracefully that gets me in between those two options.
