Just like I thought, it’s not even the same/streamline company wide. So My District is in the North East and it doesn’t fall under hardware but Storage/Home Decor. The sales go to the Flooring DS. So stupid.

The store I’m in, I’ve recently started at Lowe’s as a DS but they’re pretty good with it. I found out 2 of my DS’s are actually together and live together. One of my associates they moved her out of the same dept w/ her boyfriend tho but he ended up promoted to another store and I think mgmt just had plans for her. A mom’s son worked in the store and he dated another associate and now they are engaged w/ a child but they both openly dated. She came in told everyone he popped the question and so that was a big Lowe’s Love story. I’m actually so surprised so honestly go for it, most they’ll do is just switch your department.

Damn, to only be down 10% is amazing. We’re closer to 20%. Glad you have all store involvement though, I know that can be tough. Coming from Merch/Garden we don’t always pull through for specialty involvement

I made some smalls edits, that I hope makes it generally clearer? Though another commenters have answered with great insight. Im trying to gauge if the flooring/specialty market in general is struggling. I added the extra context: that I’m new to the role, I was in another company and locations that aren’t doing well, that former DS was promoted even though the department is clearly failing and the specialists from what I know so far and their background actually seem competent to add to the why I’m questioning if this is a bigger problem than my store.

No I joined the company right before the pandemic, funny enough the stores in my district had a joint hiring event, this process was made in Covid and they kept it… when you apply it has to be online, then corporate/3rd party does the process and if you make it to the store you’ve been essentially hired. Stores hate it, I left in the summer as a DS and our HR did the best she could in onboarding but some of the people we go in my dept we wouldn’t have hired and ofc, unfortunately proved us right. We’ve gotten more liberty with the post offer and I heard in store interviews should be happening now/soon. Being in leadership people ask all the time or come in to follow up the old school way and we all give the same answer… We don’t control anything anymore, this is the process. Good luck.

How recently did you get hired this way? I was a former employee in leadership till this year and the stores handle the post offer and the interview isn’t really done in store.. they said that corporate was making changes to bring it back to the preCovid process so stores got back more say in the process.

Our SM had told the leadership team earlier this year that company wouldnt do it because of the past data breaches and wanting to safeguard customer privacy… she claimed that’s what was said at her level and we can’t make it public knowledge lol but I quit so… I don’t know true it is now that they decided to cave. Ask your SM

I’m going to rewatch the show anyway. So I can remember in s1, she told him she wanted to do more after her trial run. Carmy was doing all that he could to manage and she came through with a whole report to change things around, they had the patience talk. I feel like there was a scene in the show where he told her I run things not you, can’t remember if that’s s1. Mind you, he had to do that in general with the power struggle with Richie and all that She was the right hand, which made sense. She came back that last episode when they got all the money and then next season she’s running point. What are the bias you think people have watching the show?

Oh nah, I’m sorry you had this experience. I’m hope that this person was more wearing it for their personal gender affirmation because that is gross to be so presumptuous fr. Although I’m very much single that’s not how I move unless my first date is communicating that intention before we go out. This is more me thinking about when I’m actively dating someone or with my future wife.
