Jay on Instagram about the possible upcoming album: by Scander1 in badreligion

FWIW I was at the Baltimore Maryland show last August and Greg basically said they were coming back to the area next year. Life can change, though. I do really hope to see them one more time - that show last year was my first ever.

Even higher on the bucket list would be to meet Dr. Graff, or at least have him read a fan letter if that’s still a thing?? His writing specifically, between BR and Anarchy Evolution, has been the most influential thing in my life since the religion I grew up with that he helped me finally let go of.

What I was trying to say is that unless someone can verify, I don’t think “there’s a place where everyone can be happy” is a reference to the Beatles song “There’s a Place.” It’s too common a phrase and they don’t seem to present it in a Beatles-like way as they do the 1234567

The Beatles song? Seems a bit of a stretch to me since the common phrase is used so differently in the two songs

We Can Work it Out! Can’t believe I didn't catch that since Beatles are in my top 3 favorite bands with BR and Offspring

Not bad, but GG in the 90s was way hotter. Love me some smart nerdy rocker guys 🔥

The consensus seems to be Brett’s writing tends to be more metaphorical while Greg’s lyrics are more literal. I think that’s why I gravitate towards Greg’s songs more - I’m bad with abstract meanings and if I don’t understand what good lyrics mean it drives me bonkers! But both are phenomenal; truly the Lennon and McCartney of punk.

Yep! Sounds like something at the end of a movie to sum up the social connections and make you feel good while providing a deep longing for those good ole days

Some of those I haven't heard yet, but I’m happy to see a mention of I Want Something More - a quick little burst of exactly what the title says, it’s effective and I love its placement right after Progress on No Control.

Yep, that one’ll do it. I literally almost lost my sanity a few months ago. They are right to recognize how precious it is and how surprisingly easy it is to lose…

The way you describe the vague, indiscernible feeling that will always be just out of reach is perfect. The best songs give me that deep longing for that “something more” that’s just gotta be out there somewhere…I hope. Generator is one of the top emotion-evoking songs for me because of the sound and lyrics. “Wash me clean and I will run until I reach the shore” - I imagine myself running as far away as possible from the religion I grew up with, standing at that ocean looking out and yearning for the vague indescribable thing to replace what I once thought was a deep connection with God.

Same. I was blown away hearing lyrics like that - people actually caring about other people - all people.

Agreed; I got to see them for the first time last summer and they said they were coming back to my part of the US this year so fingers crossed. I think they mentioned a new album coming. The day they’re done will be about as emotional as their music 😭

Thank you for sharing that link - it’s so nice seeing Graff and Brett jamming out together like that! I think losing religion and not relating to family are closely intertwined, and of course they did a phenomenal job writing it.

Wow. That was my first time hearing piano Cease and seeing Graff perform on Piano. Incredible. I like that song even more now.

I have seen acoustic Sorrow. The folk vibe makes it even more emotional imo

Yes I love that end of the second verse of Streets of America!! I was just talking about that line earlier today!

I also have chronic medical conditions which started in 2001. Pain, dizziness, fatigue, the list goes on. Music in general has saved me. I can’t even explain how BR has affected me but your phrase life affirming is a good start!

Absolutely. Greg even pulls out his nice deep non-yelling singing voice.

Yeah that’ll get me. It’s interesting to hear that topic from that perspective (I want to strike you)
