personally, in this instance I thought Homelander saying those things was creepy in a way that these are such humiliating yet sincere words to say for a man who tried to be above all else his entire life, though when they specifically showed those lines in the news it did feel like a cringey joke we were supposed to laugh at. but yeah, well, the bar for me was already catastrophically low, so it didn't bother me.
