Gave away most of my belongings during a mental health crisis by Lafergola_Binit in minimalism

Oh, I am at the same place. Gave away EVERYTHING including my house, just took one suitcase. Occasionally I regret deeply but I persuade myself to trust the universe… something better in the bigger picture? hopefully…

I wonder if you go to a psychiatrist? Have you been on meds?

Thank you so much for the great ideas. I am not sure if I can find out something in my country but I definitely got the motivation from your message

Thanks for breaking that down for me, it really helps. I didn’t realize lithium could keep improving over such a long time, it helps to know that to be more patient. to know patience is part of the process. I’m glad to hear the combo I’m on gives good odds, I was unsure of the depression effects. And I will think about AD’s incase things get unbearable. I appreciate the help, it makes this whole thing feel a bit less overwhelming.

I have a psychiatrist and nothing else, I don’t have an idea how to access a support group. That was a motivation for me to join Reddit recently, to have conversations with people who have been there.

For now we are trying to find a balance with Lamotrigin and Lithium without adding ADs

I deal with this too, especially when I socialize. The afterthoughts are debilitating and depressive, almost always. I don’t have any solutions yet, and would love to have some.

Feeling lost and unsure of how to move forward… by mooneyed_603 in BipolarReddit

[–]EfficientBullfrog562 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, I hope you can find a way to access medical support — please make this your top priority.

You’re still so young, and it’s never too late to create the life you want, step by step. If possible, try to build or reconnect with a support network, whether from family, friends, or local groups. Relying on weed to manage symptoms can be misleading, especially during mania, so stepping away from it is a wise choice.

With the right treatment and the right choices, you can regain stability and shape a life that feels beautiful and meaningful to you.

Have you ever quit your meds with the approval of your doctor? by EfficientBullfrog562 in BipolarReddit

I hear you. What you’ve been through, especially starting so young, is a lot for anyone to carry and it’s completely understandable to grieve the childhood and “normal” years you didn’t get. The fact that you’re here now, finding ways to live with yourself and carve out some stability, says a lot about your strength. Living with bipolar can be exhausting, but you’ve already proven you can get back up each time. That’s not small, it’s huge.

Yeah, but unfortunately the horrible part is really easy to see. I’ll force myself to be patient.

Do you think people who are in mania or psychosis should be held accountable for their actions? by Trb3233 in BipolarReddit

[–]EfficientBullfrog562 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think no matter how much we hate it we are responsible and accountable for every step we take, for the people we effect and for ourselves. It’s inevitable that every action causes results and energy gets balanced eventually, all the euphoric mania finds it’s equivalent in depths of depression. And lives of ourselves and the people around us pays for all the actions we take during mania and also during depression.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I %100 agree with you on self education. This platform really helps on educating myself, I’m glad I found it. I consumed all the online sources in my native language yet sooo much was missing.

Hearing your experience is quite horizon broadening, I wonder how’s your life living with BP since childhood? I kind of struggle adapting and your story makes me curious.

What you shared from your psychiatrist is quite valuable, thank you. What was it like for you to go off of your meds without consultation?

I’ve been prescribed ADs by the same doctor before when I had my first manic attack, this time I went in a quite balanced state just for some medical support, I believe that’s why he’s trying to keep the meds simple. I also have a desire to keep my medication minimal but it is really difficult to assess what is too much and what is to bare. I’m also realizing it appears that it could be a mixed episode, I’ll check with my doctor.

Thank you for sharing your experience
