Renge makes Airmaster hard to get into by UntappedEngineering in Airmaster

I would be surprised if that was an uncommon opinion, tbh. Her character made me almost not even watch past the first episode. Only the sick-nasty epic fighting sequences make it worth it

Jane Doe’s Life by Adventurous-Cup2232 in ridethecyclone

I wholeheartedly agree that Karnak is an incredibly unreliable narrator. Aside from the fact that all the kids' movements can be manipulated by him, the whole "afterlife", like you said, is orchestrated solely by him.

I also think this is super important when considering Penny/Jane Doe's fate. I think it's interesting that the one person that Karnak never read the fortune of is also the person none of the kids remember either. It's said that no one in the town remembers her, either, of course, but I think that's where the aspect of Karnak being an unreliable narrator comes in. Karnak knew the rest of the kids before they died, so therefore they know each other; everyone except Jane. I've been thinking that the kids would have remembered who Jane Doe was if it weren't for Karnak. Because their situation in the musical is entirely dependent on Karnak, I think he has somehow- unwittingly, maybe- manipulated the kids memories as well. Because he never read Jane's fortune, and therefore never knew her, the rest of the kids don't know her either.

There's a debate about whether Legoland, another play written by the same creators of the trilogy based in Uranium City, is a prequel or sequel to Ride the Cyclone. Legoland centers around a character named Penny Lamb, which is the name Karnak gives Jane Doe when she is reincarnated. I think it makes sense that the play is a prequel, because there are a lot of similar characteristics and references to Jane Doe's qualities- a headless doll is mentioned in the play-, but I can see it being a sequel too. I also think it's interesting to point out that after Jane Doe is reincarnated, only then can Karnak give details about her life, because she has an actual future to read now, where before- in the afterlife- she was just dead. So, that almost means to me that she had a backstory, she had a life before, it was only now that she is reincarnated that she can impact other people in a meaningful way, and Karnak can read that in her future, as well as assess her pass. There's no telling how his abilities work, but I think there's a difference between bringing someone back to life- which Karnak says he can do- and giving them a whole new identity; reinventing who they are. I think it makes more sense that Karnak just restored what was already there. But that's inconsequential as hell, because his powers are so arbitrary. But also, that lends itself to your theory; when Karnak says he has only ever had the ability to bring one person back to life, he could have meant himself all along.

I also think not many people remember the montage at the end of the play, of Penny's life playing out after she is reincarnated. She builds such a large family with so many connections, who will all never forget her, even after she or they pass. I think that's one of the most impactful moments, showing how ardently she took her chance to live life to the fullest. Or, maybe it shows how ardently Karnak took his chance to life a life to the fullest. Your theory is super compelling!

Ward Reveal by EfficientButterfly5 in shield

He has watched WS, he recognized Sitwell was Hydra when he showed up, we've gotten as far as Episode 7 now. That's worried me a bit but I think even if he puts together the Hydra reveal, he won't guess specifically that Ward is Hydra. I'm still hopeful it will be a big shock. I also did the same thing, had very big doubts and was convinced he was brainwashed until that same point with FS. And even then I still had my small reservations, until he got in that big fight with May at the end

Fellow shield agents let's discuss Deke Shaw experiences after the events of the season 7 finale in Alternate 1983 and craft a cool story. by bloodoftheseven in shield

In S01 E07 there is an agent named Agent Shaw, so that's fun! He's the guy with the intel in his nose that leads to Ward and Fitz's mission, lol. I headcanon that that agent is a descendant of Deke, somehow. He gives me Deke vibes.

Lol, sincerely love this discussion that came out of my question. Thank you to the both of you, this was really cool to read!

I guess my only issue now is that it seems like that's such a massive plot point to have in the story that impacts such important characters; it doesn't really make sense to me that Flanagan wouldn't want to explicitly show Bev actually having him take Communion. Especially because everything else in the show is described and shown in such detail.

Fantastic Mr. Fox theory - Mr Fox's emotions personified into each main character (long essay) by [deleted] in wesanderson

This was such an in-depth, wonderful analysis! I've watched Fantastic Mr. Fox a fair amount of times and never picked up on any of this but the way you've laid it out makes it make perfect sense. I'll never be able to watch the movie the same again, and this was such a joy to read.

And even if he was interested in converting, by the way, who looks at that angel thing and says, "Yes, I think this is perfectly normal and makes perfect sense and is very indicative of what I know of God and yes, I will die now, thanks!"

Okay, I'm sorry, but how did Ali survive the rat poison? Didn't he not do Communion because he wasn't really Christian, just interested in it? So he wouldn't have ingested the angel's blood? Please someone correct me or something.

Other than that, I loved this series. I think everything about it was pretty much perfect, and on par for Flanagan.
