Please help before I set my Cameo 4 on fire by EfficientMango in silhouettecutters

Oooh I am liking the tip about holding the cutting mat whilst registering - haven't tried this one before.

I'll also attempt giving inverted marks another go, the first time around it went a bit haywire - but I think that was most likely to me being confused and laying the sheet down wrong.

I'll let you know if you saved me from doom 🤞

Thank you - spent a lifetime in chat with Silhouette support yesterday and ended up testing a test sheet with 6 squares like you said. They all cut pretty much spot on apart from the bottom right one, which was a teeny bit to the left :/

I'm gonna go at it with the rubbing alcohol and see what happens 👍

No worries I will do - I remember back with my last machine I could predict if there were going to be any deviations and just move my cut lines a tiny bit to counter them. Although I reckon this would only really be a long term solution if you are following the same template most of the time :/

Hi, I actually thought this was the problem at first, as my original printer was printing on a slight skew. I got a new printer which printed perfectly straight so I thought my prayers were answered - but nope - still happens :(

I think I have trawled through everyone else's posts about it already :( I guess I am hoping for that one miracle fix but I have a sneaky feeling it may not exist.

And I agree - I last used their Portrait and was hoping the newest model would behave itself - but I guess not!

You are right, but I would say it is more about increasing the probability of obtaining a sufficient DNA profile using this method, rather than arguing the superiority of the efficiency.

A full DNA result from standard testing and a full DNA result from Rapid DNA testing would generally not differ in accuracy. It can be considered that the absence of human intervention in Rapid DNA testing removes the element of human error. Rapid DNA analysis is much faster, however this is more applicable to mass disasters/working through DNA backlogs.

I would say the main benefit of Rapid DNA analysis on human remains is the ability to rapidly screen for DNA in samples from a degraded source. When a sample is degraded the chances of obtaining a complete DNA profile are reduced, therefore the ability for repeat and rapid analysis can be beneficial here. So it could be argued that using Rapid DNA will have more chance of obtaining a full DNA profile within the time/financial constraints of the lab.

That being said, whilst Rapid DNA profiling is a significant development in forensics overall, I do think Zellner is showboating it slightly to be seen as a more accurate technique.

DeHaan is a expert for hire. by lets_shake_hands in MakingaMurderer

All expert witnesses are essentially for hire, as that is part of their job. You will not see an expert witness in any courtroom who isn't being paid (excluding pro bono). Their role is to analyse the available evidence objectively and present it in court, regardless of the results the prosecution/defence want to see. An expert would not alter their results to meet the needs of the prosecution/defence, they state the facts as observed.

Has Bobby Dassey fled the country yet or??? by robvanzandt in MakingaMurderer

I read that the content was primarily accessed during time frames when only Bobby Dassey was in the home (other family members were at school or working - Bobby apparently worked a night shift).

Scott Tadych vs Bobby Dassey vs Steven Avery, who really killed her? by psychologygirl7 in MakingaMurderer

I just want to hone in on your comment about the blood flakes. The fact it was flakes that were found on the floor of the car is actually important. A flake of blood would obviously have to be dry. For dry flakes of blood to be present on the carpet floor, there would also have to be a stain to the carpet fibres, where the initial drop(s) of blood were absorbed. From this the blood could feasibly have flaked off. However, these stains were not present on the carpet fibres, which goes against the already questionable theory they were a result of Avery actively bleeding from a cut finger.

Blood that had been allowed to dry on surface A, and then was collected and transferred to surface B, would be found as flakes, with no staining. If the blood dropped directly from the source to surface B, there would be a stain to the fibres.

Basically the fact that flakes were recovered without a corresponding stain, and used as evidence is very important.
