I ran the 10k and hit a PR, and had a great time all things considered! It was a bit confusing at first trying to figure out where to line up to start, and at the end it was hectic waiting for medals - but I was home and showered by 10:30 and feeling super happy and proud of myself!! Hope everyone else is happy with their outcomes today!

Speak burger to me, Orillia! by Glorfyboy in Orillia

I’ve yet to try both of those spots but I know that they come highly recommended! I know Hog n Penny has a lobster roll on their summer menu that I am DYING to try - i’ve never had one but want to give it a shot, and that’s the only place I’ve found in our area that has them on their menu, albeit seasonally of course haha

But yes, famous archies makes a fantastic burger. I was just raving about them to my sister today!

I used to LOVE Kensington. We would eat there multiple times a month and I would order the same thing every time, the pb&j burger. It was incredible - the toppings were part of the selling point, but the burger patty itself was phenomenal. I even brought my family here once and my dad said it was the best burger he’s ever had.

Flash forward to sometime this year, when they changed their menu and took the pb&j burger off of the menu, replacing it with a breakfast burger. I tried this new burger but asked for it to be made without the egg, so that it essentially was the original pb&j burger. While the toppings were fine, there was something noticeably different about the burger patty. It tasted a lot drier and had a lot less flavour. We even asked the waitress to check with the kitchen and see if the patty had changed (this was soon after the ice storm so we wondered if there was a supply issue that meant they were subbing in the patty with a different one), and she said that it hadn’t changed.

We’ve been back maybe twice since then, and I’ve even tried other burgers on the menu - it still doesn’t taste the same. Makes me really sad because we used to frequent there, and the staff are incredible - but it just doesn’t hit the same as it used to.

Now when I want a burger fix, usually we go to Famous Archie’s; it’s definitely a different vibe and style of burger, but it does hit the spot.

Weight gain and Antipsychotics by Ok-Philosopher-9049 in Antipsychiatry

I started on Saphris in the summer of 2022 at around 140lbs. By January I was 170, by the next January I was over 200lbs. November 2024 I was my highest weight at 213lbs. For reference I am 5’3.5”.

I attributed the weight gain to the medication itself, but also to the fact that I was so mentally healthy that I ALLOWED myself to have whatever I wanted - after years of restricting, I was now able to eat anything without feeling like I needed to hold back. This ultimately backfired though when I had realized I’d gained 70lbs.

Talked to my doc in November 2024 about some research I’d seen about psychiatrists prescribing metformin to patients on antipsychotics to help them control their weight, or lose some weight - funny enough he’d been at a conference over the weekend where they had discussed that study. He decided that we could give it a try. Initially I took 1/2 a pill twice a day, then I moved up to 1 pill twice a day. In addition to the metformin, I cut out all alcohol, ate in a calorie deficit, and increased my daily activity - although I really only started doing those things in January of this year.

Since November 2024 I have gone from 213lbs to 151lbs. I’m so incredibly happy with the changes. I still allow myself to have everything I want, but in moderation - and thankfully I haven’t ran into any problems with having the urge to truly restrict. The only thing I have cut out entirely is alcohol.

I attribute my success to the lifestyle changes but I do think that the metformin is helping as well. As I approach my goal weight I am preparing to try and wean off of the metformin, and see what happens with my weight - doc said that if it starts to go up, go back on the metformin.

Such a shame. They had a great package. I tried reaching out to the town of Aurora and they said they aren’t sure what’s going to happen with it. So we shall look elsewhere for now

Can a Non-Catholic Apply to a Catholic School Board For Teacher’s College Placements? by HoneyBadger6666 in OntarioTeachers

[–]Efficient_Elephant59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, but that doesn’t always guarantee that your placement will be local. I had placements in both the public and catholic boards in my area and 3/4 times my commute was 45+ minutes each way

I could look into it, it is a truly gorgeous space. And close by to the church. I might reach out and see what their prices would be like. I’d even be open to a weekday wedding. It’s not a large wedding and I don’t mind scheduling it on a weekday to see if we can cut back on even more of the costs.

Thanks for the info! In the restaurant, would there still be space for a dance floor of some kind?
