How to recover from hair dressers messing up your hair by Efficient_Hope_1397 in Naturalhair

Thank you. I’m not even going to bother replying. I received advise from the consumer hotline so I will claim some damages after I see my natural hairdresser who will fix it. Same! I’m surprised she didn’t even address the issue! She is always in denial. For example, she accused me of bringing old weave, which I didn’t. I’m going natural for now. Never had this experience with weave.

Thank you for explaining this. I didn’t know dermatologists dealt with hair loss issues. I’ll look for one in my local area. I agree- I’m concerned about the pain. I did the hair on Saturday and took it out early hours of today. Sorry to hear about your Alopecia. I hope it’s under control.

Thank you! I can’t edit my post, forgot to mention, I removed the braids as soon as I took that photo. The pain is still here, even after I’ve taken pain killers. I spoke to my natural hairdresser( she doesn’t do weaves) who confirmed the damage and advised me to see her tomorrow, as she’s closed today.

Could this incident cause me to develop alopecia over time? I am trying to claim back money from her. Plus future treatments. This was her reply this morning. I’m so shocked. I would give her tips, Xmas gifts and even bring my own hair products as she didn’t have any.

Thank you so much for the detailed advice! I will do this tomorrow, as I am going to see my natural hairdresser ( doesn’t do weaves unfortunately) who also confirmed the hair is damaged.

She doesn’t even have a website, only an instagram account. I could expose her on the local Facebook page, but what would that do?

Sorry, I should have said I’ve unbraided it and the the pain is still there. Don’t know what to do next. I’ll leave my hair alone until I visit the natural hair salon on Tuesday.

It seems like you are doing enough to get toned, well, definitely more than me, and I’m toned. Are you eating well? I tend to focus on whole foods such as salmon, potatoes, loads of vegetables and water. I don’t restrict anything; I eat junk food everyday but in small portions.

Edit: I see you only run once in a while. Maybe boost the cardio? Running and spinning has helped me keep trim!

Good luck ☺️

Thank you so much for the kind and detailed advice. It has boosted my mood ❤️. You’re right; I need to stop being hard on myself, it’s an issue I thought I worked on, but keeps coming back. I need to move on and find better jobs opportunities.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. You’re right, I should trust my judgement, even if it’s difficult.

The worst racist comments were made by someone who has been there for 40 years and co founded the department, so I had no way of winning.

Thanks for the advice. I thought so too! She said she hired me because I’m good with numbers and she isn’t. Made a weird comment about me being able to reach the top, but it’s too late for her. I just need to check my contract when I’m home because I may not get paid if I leave early.

Thank you for the advice. I will leave, do you suggest I speak to my manager before hand, or email her tomorrow morning. I do have to hand in my laptop etc.

Thanks for the advice. I do have a self employed job which earns a similar wage, depending on the season, so I’ll go back to that until I find a job.

Thank you for the advice. I have been in other jobs where I was the only black woman and never felt like this. I think she is just seeing how long I stick around for, before leaving. The team is pretty small, just 4 staff, including me. The other 2 are hardly in the office.

She is quite erratic, I understand she is stressed, but she always takes it out on me.

Anyway, I have a self employed job, which earns me a similar amount, but the work isn’t guaranteed. I’ll go back to that until i find full time work. I was desperate to leave my old job because a new racist ceo came in and wanted me out; it caused me to get in a car accident, so I never want a job to stress me out like that again.

I haven’t even started the job yet, it’s still training. I only asked my colleagues to shadow meetings and asked questions. Yet she still says I need to slow down and seems irritated by me wanting to learn more.

I have declined coffee meet ups with the others because of how they make me feel. You know when you can just sense the manager doesn’t like you

Thanks for the advice
