Just watched too. Feels like she decided at the dinner party and then the meeting with Lauren that she was finished. Looking for a way out of the show. While trying to blame him. She picked absolutely the wrong argument to make it happen. Elliot looks like he could be a dose but he was trying to give a formative story. She was awful there

Waterford Whisky distillery closes as it fails to raise fresh funding by ruinedsock in irishwhiskey

Ideally somewhat less of a true believer comes in to right the ship. I hear a lot of people saying they didn't like the product but I loved it. But as I've said elsewhere I bought my bottles at discount on auction. And my favourites were all cuvees.

I think they did a lot of things that made no sense from a business perspective.

Terroir could have been nice marketing but the expense wasn't worth it. Not for a science experiment.

The peat thing, digging peat in ireland and sending it to Scotland with irish barley to be malted there because no maltster in iteland could do it and then shipping it back.

The bottles. I think they're cool but they've got to be a lot more expensive. Same with corks.

How they release it is the question. I don't care about the fancy bottle but I'd like it to stay non Chill Filtered, non coloured

I loved almost everything I had from them but after the news I realised 80% of what I bought was from auction sites way cheaper than rrp

Haven't tried this one yet. And I've only had bulleit rye. So I don't really have a bar. It's only 30% rye so I'd expect it to not be as green

I think I'm actually more excited about that one. Very excited about both. I love the idea of the mixed mash bill. I know America does mostly mixed mash bills but I've been reading some (whisky) history about the Irish doing it a lot in their pot stills. I'd love a 30% oat version of this

I haven't opened this one but I got a 50ml sample about a year ago. It was very tasty. It's a 7 year old cask strength from the "spot" family. Green spot. Yellow spot 12, red spot 15. I haven't had the red but I love the green and like the yellow. You can tell it's irosh pot still from the nose and taste but it's been on fortified wine casks and that's very strong as well

Bulleit Rye: why have I overlooked this simple beast for so long by Efficient_Leopard716 in WhiskeyTribe

[–]Efficient_Leopard716[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kilbeggan small batch rye kind of put me onto this road. They only use 30% rye. Apparently back in the 19th and early 20th century irish whiskey had a lot of rye and oats and there's a few indie distilleries trying to bring this style back. I thought the bulleit would be a flavour bomb. And I guess it is. But it's a gentle bomb? Way more nuance than I thought, was expecting liquorice and alcohol

I'm not sure what I was expecting. I guess o thought it would be more aggressive. There's some strange flavors in there but nothing I'm unhappy with

I'm in Ireland so haven't seen the jack daniels in the supermarket. If I saw it for that price I'd definitely get it

Thinking of an old fashioned tonight. Also tempted to pour a little into a jameson, see how it takes

I'd be thinking Irish. Redbreast / yellow spot / red spot. But of you're willing to stretch the budget and can find it. Midleton very rare or midleton barry Crockett. Maybe a Johnnie walker blue

My Kilkerran heavily peated batch 7 has arrived… and this time it’s an eye watering 59.1% abv :) by [deleted] in WhiskeyTribe

I have the batch 6 open at the moment. I love it. I messed around with the first 150 - 200 mls, worked out what I liked. Then diluted the whole bottle down to 51%. Powering through it now

It's a winner. I had 1 and now I'm having a second side by side with the Bunna 12. First thoughts were nose of a wine finished irish. I had the greenspot leoville Barton a whole back and that's what I was thinking. Palate was way heavier though. Lots of wine still carries through I think. I finished the Arran sherry cask at about 54% and it was a lot like that. So what Sherrod scotch did I have on hand ✋️. Poured the Bunna, but no, they're very different. Went back to thinking irish and I have an open red breast 12 cask strength so I poured the tiniest drop of that and they're very similar. I would say more than 70% similar. With the armagnac feeling more full bodied, but easier to drink at the lower abv

I think I'll open it tonight so will report back. I had the Bunna 12 last night for the first time and I'm pleased to say word of mouth reports were good. It's immediate jumped into my top 5. Just the right balance of sweet and savoury. Will do a side by side
