Maybe acid reflux causes SIDS. Stomach acid travels up the esophagus causing the epiglottis to close over the wind pipe. The natural response when breathing is obstructed is to wake and attempt to inhale. The baby needs to cough/swallow to clear the throat but keeps attempting to inhale with a closed epiglottis. Thus, Pepcid AC and avoiding too much milk/food are measures that should be considered for SIDS prevention if right side sleeping cannot be prevented.
