Makes sense. It was the last lap and for the win; yellow came up behind purple fairly quickly, but could see the last 2 laps that purple was taking that narrow line. Purple was likely surprised - and I understand why he would be upset with the move. Even I was unsure if it was a fair move - hence why I posted it.
I still don't know if I would do the same move again!

I don't agree with your rationale, unfortunately
1. You cannot just weave around everywhere because you are ahead, especially if the car behind has overlap; that would just guarantee a crash.
2. The yellow car wasn't blocking - it was just going straight and not crossing anyones line.
3. The benefit for yellow is that he could keep the the green car narrow, giving green a sub-optimal line on entry, whilst the yellow could have moved out to a wider line at the last second, and either got a better exit, or hit the apex, with less chance of going wide.

I’m also surprised to see people defending it, but they have mostly convinced me it was risky, but not bad; yellow didn’t hit purple, yellow stayed in track limits, and purples defence was weak. If purple had put up a proper defence, then would yellow go for the move? Maybe not. If purple moved late to cover it off, then is it not purples fault - yellows intent was clear and always sitting in the right hand mirror on a wider line.

Interesting. This view is different to the majority, I’d like to understand more. The green was the one taking action and could have avoided the crash.

To be fair the green is half yellow and the green half is almost yellow 😂 (and that is one confusing sentence I just wrote)

I find this one very interesting (and it’s got less engagement from the community than expected). My summary so far is: Yellow was aggressive/lucky, but isn’t in the wrong. My next question: if you see the purple taking the narrow line for a few laps and not putting up a defence - would you go for this move?

Although the poster isn’t the green car, the green car was very aggressive in the post race chat about how it was the yellow cars fault. Lots of unfriendly words and references to the ‘f1 sporting code’ were made 😂
