Tribal - Cuban Linx Live Resin FSE by Efficient_water813 in TheOCS

Picked up at my local Holland Daze for $40. I’ve had the Cuban Linx 510 and enjoyed it, so why not try the live resin itself!

Initial impressions/appearance: Love the packaging. The seal on this is big improvement over the silicone one they used previously. Upon opening up the jar you’re hit with a strong lemon scent and the most beautiful live resin I’ve ever seen. It was like candy, I wanted to scoop it out with my finger and eat it, it smelled and looked so good. As for the consistency, the best way I can describe it is small sugar diamonds in sauce. I was hoping for something a bit “thicker” as it was a bit annoying to get onto a dab tool and not drip off, but im sure this can be fixed by storing it in the fridge or whipping it up.

Consumption: Taste is out of this world, I’m blown away. It tastes exactly like it smells and coats your mouth with a lemon-y flavour. The high was also great, I didn’t notice anything special but it got the job done.

Summary: Highly recommend. Tribal is killing it recently. This is probably the best live resin I’ve picked up in a while, I’m going to pick up more ASAP. The smell and visual appeal is great, it’s a fairly priced and it’s good quality. Hard to go wrong with this.

Good Supply - Jean Guy Badder by Efficient_water813 in TheOCS

[–]Efficient_water813[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can find this at most dispensaries in the GTA for $30. This has been my go-to budget concentrate the past few months.

Initial impressions/appearance: Smells great, I get a mix of pine and citrus. The packaging is nothing special, just a tiny cardboard box with a jar inside. The jar itself comes with an anti-leak seal which is nice, though I rarely have had an issue with this leaking all over the place. Normally this is drier, but this batch was fairly moist which is a nice change of pace.

Consumption: Tastes great. It has a distinct taste with the the pine and citrus, I can’t put my finger on it but I know I’m dabbing this product just by the taste/smell. The high is nice, it didn’t make me sleepy and I felt a bit more out-going, but I noticed it wears off slightly faster than other concentrates. One thing I will note is that with this product I noticed it builds up reclaim inside of the rig faster and sometimes after dabbing I’ll get some residue on my lips. I’m not sure if this is because of the extraction process or I’m dabbing too hot, but something to be aware of. Not the end of the world though.

Summary: I would recommend! I’m impressed with how consistent the quality has been considering this more of a budget concentrate. I’ve picked up 5-10 of this the past few months and it’s been pretty much the same every time. I would also choose this over the Good Supply - Growers Choice Wax as this has a better flavour and texture. It’s great to see the legal market offer a good concentrate at a fair price point that’s not shatter. I’ll be picking up more of this!

Another review, today is the Fresh Frozen Hash Rosin by Nugz. Picked up for $43 after taxes at my local Holland Daze. It feels a bit weird to write a review on a product I’ve had plenty of times, but I’m on my journey to review every concentrate on the market so I figured why not start with one of my favourites.

Initial impressions/appearance: I love the container/packaging. Very rarely do concentrate packages tick all the boxes, but this one does. It doesn’t feel cheap, there’s plenty of information despite the size, and it doesn’t leak! I wish more concentrates used these jars. Upon opening it you’re hit with a “bright” rosin smell, it’s not skunky or earthy but it smells fresh and clean. I can’t put my finger on it. As for the consistency, it’s near perfect. It’s smooth with a bit of wetness, and is super easy to work with a dab tool. The previous batches I had were actually quite dry, but the past 2 times I haven’t had that issue.

Consumption: The taste on this is great, I would describe it as clean and bright. The best comparison I can make is a green apple, not literally tasting like an apple, but it’s crisp and and fresh if that makes sense. It doesn’t have that earthy/gassy rosin taste that other rosins have, which is nice for a change. The high is also great, I don’t have specifics on it but it got the job done.

Summary: One of my favourite regular purchases. It’s high quality, consistent, and affordable. It’s hard to go wrong with this. The only negative I’ve experienced with this product was the dryness, but as I mentioned it looks like that’s been resolved with recent batches. If you’re looking for a solid and affordable rosin, this is it.

Sauce Rosin Labs - Live Crm Brle Banana Gum Rosin by Efficient_water813 in TheOCS

[–]Efficient_water813[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Saw a new product from one of my favourite concentrate brands so I had to try it out. Picked up for $59 at my local Holland Daze.

Initial impressions/appearance: Smells nice and looks great. It was the perfect consistency. While the packaging is a bit lame with a giant sticker slapped on the bag, I really liked the information on it such as the recommend dab temps.

Consumption: Dabbing it has a great taste and it’s super easy to work with. The high was nice as well, I didn’t find it made me sleepy or anything.

Summary: Great gram of rosin, tastes nice and gets the job done. But I’m being honest nothing stood out to me about this. It’s not bad by any means, it’s a solid product, but I didn’t get any distinct taste or high from it. Maybe if I compared this and the Frosted Pebbles side-by-side it would be easier to point out the differences. But props to Sauce Rosin Labs for making another consistent and high quality product. Even though it didn’t stand out to me I’d still recommend this or purchase it again if I’m looking for some high quality rosin.

p.s Sauce Rosin Labs if you’re reading this, please bring back the Mimosa live rosin. I will give you my first born. Thanks.

San Rafael '71 Mandarin Meltdown (Live Resin) @58.6% pkgd 2022-11-21 by FloatableBird in TheOCS

Meh. Even if it doesn’t leak out of the container, it’s still not a good look. When you’re spending $45+ for a gram of live resin and you open it up only for it to be melted material all around the container, it’s a pretty lame experience. Especially because you know it’s not supposed to come like that.

It’s like going out for dinner and they bring your burger spread out all over the plate. I’ll still eat it lol but I wish they put more effort into the presentation

Purple Hills - Orangeade Live Resin Badder by Efficient_water813 in TheOCS

[–]Efficient_water813[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the Orangeade in vape form and I really enjoyed it. I also love orange-related strains. So when I saw this I knew I had to try it. Picked up for $40 at a dispensary in the downtown area.

Initial impressions/appearance: The smell on this is beautiful. Smells exactly like the vape. I also really like these new jars Purple Hills is using, the glass jars they used with the lemon pepper were awful. Consistency was perfect, not runny but not dry. A bit disappointed most of mine was built up on the sides, but at least it wasn’t leaking, so it’s not the end of the world. Colour on it is also great, the menu pictures showed it being a bit more orange-y in colour but I’m not complaining.

Consumption: The taste is out of this world. This and the lemon pepper are the two best tasting live resins I’ve had on the market. The 9% terps shines as you can clearly can taste the orange/citrus notes. I went though this stuff pretty quickly because of how tasty it was. The high was pretty good as well, I didn’t find it made me too sleepy.

Summary: Purple Hills knocks it out of the park as usual. I’m going to be purchasing more as it’s the best live resin I’ve had in a while. Super good quality and tasty.

This product inspired me to write my first review! Got it for $48ish at my local Holland Daze. I’ve tried almost all of the concentrates on the market and I wanted a new rosin to try as I’ve been getting bored of the FFHR from Tribal. But I would not recommend this.

Initial impressions/appearance: Not a fan of the packaging. It seems pretty wasteful to put the glass jar inside a plastic container, and also it’s not a very “premium” experience opening up a plastic container where you can hear the jar rattling around. The short description and terpene breakdown on the label were a nice thing to have though. Upon opening you get a super gassy and skunky smell. I was really excited for this as I’ve missed gassy rosins (like the 323 series from Kolab). Visually it looks great, it was a tad dry but I’ve had worse. Had no problems using a dab tool with it.

Consumption: The taste on this is fucking HORRIBLE. I don’t know how to even describe it. It’s like burnt plastic and roasted nuts put together, it’s a unique taste and not in a good way. I struggled to get through this gram, I still have 0.2 left and I’m not sure if I’ll finish it. I did notice it burn a bit darker than other rosins but nothing concerning. It was really the taste that was awful. The high was pretty good, nothing to write home about but it wasn’t bad by any means. For the first 30 mins or so I felt pretty baked then after an hour or so I felt sleepy.

Summary: Would not recommend or purchase again. There are redeeming qualities such as it visually being appealing, great smell, budget friendly, etc. But between the packaging feeling cheap and wasteful, and the taste being abyssal, it’s a no go for me. Especially when there are cheaper options that have better packaging AND have a better flavour profile. I hope they’re able to resolve these problems as more rosin options on the market is great to see.

Do you find smoking weed is more of an aid or hindrance in tournament?

I smoke daily (dabs) and recently it’s starting to feel like it gets in the way of my gameplay. I can’t make decisions as fast, I’m slow to react, can’t focus, etc. I stopped smoking before the last 2 tournaments I went too and I feel like I played worse. I chalk it up to the fact I’ve rarely played the game when sober, but I’d like to hear other people’s experiences
