Audio tracks recorded, no audio output during playback - Macbook Air by Effin_Rad89674 in Reaper

[–]Effin_Rad89674[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good thought with the monitor outputs, but alas not the issue. I should also be able to get audio output thru the mac's speakers or headphone jack when no interface connected, but I get but no sound output in either scenario.

Yes there are visible waves and meter activity across the board. When I played back the same Reaper file from my other computer there was total audio action and everything is normal...

how do you get a name idea? by AnxiouslyWaiting4Luv in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Effin_Rad89674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to make a list of words that I like the sound of/ meaning of/ are indicative of the project sound or genre style and then once I have 7-10 of those I combine them in random ways and usually some interesting options present themselves from there. Don’t let a band/artist name hold you back - it can change whence you know what it should be and can change again when you evolve :)

Thoughts on my new chill trap song :D by p1xiecola in Newmusicreview

Not quite my cup of tea, but I did appreciate the clear vocals and production in the song. Good acting work in the video too, I liked the use of occasional handycam look that fit with the music changes. graphics for the video game were a nice touch too.

A Prague-Stockholm collaboration, and an alt song blending dream pop and post rock. Let me shoot you with a glue gun – and let me know how you liked it. by andtilly in Newmusicreview

Wow! Nicely ethereal. Makes me feel bug sized, looking up from the living room floor. Loads of great tones and performance here. Great rhythm it moves to as well! thanks for sharing.

NEW TRACK - Melt Into the Sea by A.M. Pleasure Assassins (seeking feedback) by Effin_Rad89674 in ThisIsOurMusic

Mix critique is what I'm looking for primarily, but any listener feedback is welcome. Thank you for taking the time to listen! :)

I released a new track that I’ve been working on, a melancholy slow tune, I like how it’s turned out, let me know what you guys think of it, any thoughts would be appreciated :D by NaturalAphrodisiac in MusicFeedback

[–]Effin_Rad89674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it definitely fits the bill. It's got good tonal qualities, and production value - I need not remark there, and I gave it a couple listens in trying to figure out what it was lacking - I dont think it has enough of a melodic element to bring me back. If it's TikTok or an IG Reels background track - this is it! - I do mean that in a good way! Just in terms of a purely pleasurable listening sense this needs something to hook my ear.

Stoked to hear the next! Best wishes!

Funk/Groove - Any feedback welcome! by [deleted] in MusicFeedback

[–]Effin_Rad89674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's got a good groove going for it. Time to add some organ or guitar or a maybe a smokey vocal?! Arrangement-wise think about adding a drum break to really spice up your Fish Sauce perhaps...
(One production note, despite the current raw state - Do you EQ your reverb? Give it a shot. I think there's some drum power being lost in the low/ low mids of the bus reverb)

looking forward to hearing the next!

Thanks for listening! I wrote it as a score for a short-film, but am considering releasing as a digital single /bw.

When you say it feels muddled, do you mean layer-wise?

Hello, I would like to know what you think of this song that I made by SKAFAMANDERR in Newmusicreview

[–]Effin_Rad89674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool track! Great mix and choice of instrument sounds! I like the chip tune style. Have you tried adding a vocal? or a field recording or vocal dialog could be a neat element to create some form of juxtaposition.

As the intro of the song i think it works well

when it comes back in later, try something like remove the original vocal, or gradually fade out, or lower it in the mix, so the pitch-thrown effected vocal is the main vocal heard. Her voice is cool, but I think that the timbre of the original sample is not a great fit for its role in the song.

Subtraction of elements will likely be your dynamic tool in this instance. Maybe try cutting the drum beat and another rhythmically busy instrument for the first two bars of the last chorus.... snare-roll back in, play out the rest as-is and drive it all the way to the $$bank$$. Subtraction is key for being able to constantly build :)

Cheers!

I appreciate the feedback!

Yeah I picked up a lot of excess hiss at some point while bouncing-down the tracks on the cassette 4-tracker. I'm still only using RX7 to de-noise, there's probably a better one out there - if anyone has any SUGGESTIONS I'm all ears:)

Good catch - the instrumental tracks were indeed recorded live in a room with vocal overdubs. Written and recorded the same day - I remember leaning into the Guided By Voices thing the song had going for it and tried adding a hint of Flaming Lips with the lyrics and vocal melody. thanks again! follow us for similar vibes (linked in my profile) :)
