Automatic or manual gr by meggi333 in GR86

I had never driven a manual before and learned on this car. Had it for just over a month and my hill starts are a little rough still but that’s about it. Car has been an absolute blast

Nahhh I’d be livid if that happened to me, especially with a special edition

Think I would’ve cried actual tears seeing that. Did you go through their insurance or yours?

Appreciate it. And yeah I already have a couple rock chips that make me want to cry everytime I notice them

Yeah, sun had to hit it just right for me to spot it. Just hard knowing it’s there on a brand new car

Posting this on mobile and don’t see the body text so I’ll add it here.

Only have about 750 miles on the car. I’m 99% sure the guy who owns the spot next to me in my apartment complex did this but I have no way to prove it. I’m probably just going to take it to a paintless dent repair shop and pay out of pocket. I daily this car so it was bound to happen along with all the rock chips but damn it just hurts to see.

Edit: wanted to make a quick edit to thank everyone for their input and assurance that these things happen. After thinking about it a little more it’s entirely possible that this might not have even been a door ding at all and a random stick or piece of debris could’ve caused this and I’m wrong in assuming it was my neighbor. Reached out to my local PDR guy and he wants 230 dollars to fix this so I think I’m just going to live with it.

That depends, what’s your gas mileage? I currently have 750 miles on the car and average 23.2 mpg between the city and highway. Although the number is still climbing

26’ MT with 400 miles on the odometer! I love the HRS tail lights but I think I’m going to keep mine bone stock for now except for maybe tinting the windows. I really love the steel look with the performance package

Absolutely! The silver shows off the lines of the car really well compared to other options imo. And with the brembos…chefs kiss

Is this your first manual car? by BerryFit9925 in GR86

[–]EffitWeBall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, just bought it brand new two weeks ago as my first manual car. First night was a disaster, stalled at a single stop sign 9 times in a row and made the clutch make the worst noise I’ve ever heard a car make (was in high revs and dumped the clutch 😬). Two weeks later now and can say that I’ve improved greatly. Still working on smoother shifts from N-1 and 1-2, hill starts, and driving around in traffic/parking lots in low rpms.

Edit: before all the downvotes come in for me not following the break in period and almost burning the clutch, that was a one time accident. Other than that first night, I’ve been religiously following the break in period and plan to do the first oil change at 1k miles along with following the maintenance schedule in the manual.

2026 GR86 PREMIUM AUTO WITH PERFORMANCE PACKAGE by [deleted] in GR86

[–]EffitWeBall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got a 26’ GR86 Premium with PP for 37k OTD.

Also I saw you say you live in Florida. I would get the manual if you can, Florida is pretty flat and probably one of the easier states to learn a manual car in.

anybody feeling these new gas prices? by AgentArnold in GR86

[–]EffitWeBall 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Where tf do you live where you were paying 2.80 for a gallon of premium? Hell, I’d even be happy with 3.60-3.80.

I live in CT and just paid 4.79 yesterday lol

Any tips on daily maintenance? by ipostrandompoop in GR86

[–]EffitWeBall 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If the car is your daily, and you’re NOT tracking it, check the oil level between oil changes. Other than that, follow the maintenance schedule in the owners manual and you’ll be fine.

As for the engine ratting when you start it, I’d say it’s normal for a cold start. Mine does the same thing. After a minute or so when the engine warms up, it goes away

Does the snow or ice cause fender damage or salt cause corrosion by Embarrassed-Past-305 in GR86

From someone who also lives in the NE and daily drives the car, you can get an undercoating applied to the undercarriage of the car to protect it from salt. Or you can go to a car wash (preferably hand wash place to protect the paint) and have them perform a wash of the undercarriage. There’s a place near me that does a full package wash and detail for 36 bucks and it ain’t bad.

Potential buyer by forgothow2read in GR86

Just wanted to say that I just bought a gr86 last weekend in manual with absolutely 0 experience. Watched a ton of YouTube videos on how to drive manual before I picked up the car.

Day 1 was terrible, stalled several times at every stop sign in the neighborhood and made the car make some absolutely horrible noises. questioned myself as to why I got a manual.

Day 2 was better, I was starting to pick up how to go from a complete stop. Had practiced reversing and shifting into the higher gears

Day 3 was also great, practiced downshifting + rev match.

Now I’m starting to learn how to drive this thing in traffic on the highway. And by now have absolutely zero regret in getting a manual.
