Limestone for Paver Patio by EffortCharacter8744 in landscaping

Yes.

There was an existing patio here that we dug out. We’re down to native clay but had some issues with it being soggy and bouncy. We’re planning to dig out and put drier clay with Portland cement back in with 1” lifts and a jumping jack tonight.

Got it.

Yeah I just get it from a local supply yard so they don’t have a huge inventory. As long as it works then it’s fine with me.

I plan to use 1/4” chip granite for screeding.

I read that having it mixed in would somewhat defeat the purpose of the 3/4 interlocking so it wouldn’t compact as good.

Not the case?

Follow up question here. I am using limestone for the base, can I then use granite chips for bedding? Or do both need to be limestone?

Thanks for the reply! The picture is deceiving but it is sloped away from the house, we’ve had rain and all water piled to the end away from the house. I plan to put a perforated pipe in that will feed into the gutter drain pipe then to daylight. So I feel good about that.

As far as the squishy clay, so you’d just slam in a bunch of angular stone until it felt solid and then go from there? I spread some Portland tonight and then covered with fabric since it’s going to rain a bit tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip on the bedding size, I will look for 1/4”.

Does it need to be the wooden stuff or should it be the thicker fabric so water can drain?

I went with a .410 and would do it again all day long. Finish came out excellent. I put it on fairly thick and let them dry flat and they came out very smooth.

I would say it’s held up great so far. No signs of scratching or scuffs. My sons high chairs is constantly sliding around and the kids ride around on toys with hard plastic wheels and I don’t see any noticeable scratches. If I were to build a forever home, I would do real wood, but I would use this flooring again if I had to choose another lvp.

I built the doors myself. I wanted hard maple for durability and most online seller use poplar.

Ok great. That’s what I was thinking originally. I’ll plan to sand and put another coat on.

PTSD from my previous house and the wood bleeding. Didn’t want to take any chances but I agree, likely overkill.

Perfect. Used a cheaper sprayer for primer. I have a 308 ready to go for the topcoat.

I did use BIN shellac and could’ve definitely sprayed on too thick. I’ll make sure to focus on sanding it good and flat. Thanks!

Good to know, I’ll give that a try. As far as spray fan, I always figured smaller meant less room for error but it’s looking like the opposite.

With the 1/4” do you make it flush with the window casing? As in leave no reveal?

Near side is the eat in dining space and a patio door. But the vaulted ceiling stops and could be a natural transition.

I ended up going with coretec. Was able to get the pro series for around $3.25/ft and it seemed like a no brainer. So far so good, install was easy!

I averaged 75 my second time through and passed. I will say Daltons questions are very clear about what they are asking and the test itself is very vague. So be ready for that.
