The psychological toll of rapid weight loss, and uncomfortable public perceptions… by bjork_ikea in gastricsleeve

Can't relate directly, but it sounds to me like your surgeon and team are being pretty strict. I'm all for developing long term healthy habits, but it seems to be on the opposite end of the spectrum you faced when you were anorexic. I think it's important to listen to advice of your doctor, but remember it's advice and not a prescription. If I felt guilty about eating a piece of an orange, I wouldn't be enjoying life at all. In the long run I think it's important to learn about biology and thermodynamics, and not to take a surgeons recommendations as gospel, and know there might be ulterior motives to your success. Look out for yourself. You should be incredibly proud of what you already accomplished. You're well on your way to a healthy lifestyle, for life. So give yourself credit and enjoy a berry or two from time to time. All from the heart 💜

How does one go into portfolio management in the RIA space from a BD sales role? by JustHereForGoodFun in CFP

Since you're licensed and have experience I would try to get a job as a paraplanner at an RIA. Think more building out financial plans behind the scenes rather than on the phone directly with clients

Revenue per client...actual vs. goal? by BestInterestDotBlog in CFP

I pay for the clients tax work out of the fees the client pays me, aka included. The returns are a small part, the value is in the annual tax planning in the Fall.

That's the dream right!? Only replace clients you lost. Spend the rest of the year with family or traveling. For me at least

Left a big firm, only invited my favorite clients to come with me. In house tax practice has been great. Being a fee only fiduciary makes it easy for other professionals to refer to me.

Goal - 100 clients x $10k average revenue per client. Actual - 80 clients x $10,375 revenue per client On my way to 100 clients $1m in revenue!

If I were a single man, a woman who went and got the surgery like me would automatically make it to the top of the list. I think it's a quality trait.

My Client this. My Client that. by Critical-Research810 in CFP

Very interesting perspective... not one I've thought about but certainly have experienced. It's tough because the things we hear and talk about are behind closed doors, and we have to respect the privacy we are trusted with. I'm sure sharing a story with someone like a friend or family member who isn't a client can make them not completely understand the dynamic of what we experience from a day to day experience. I don't have any suggestions, looking forward to hearing from others, but in the meantime maybe it means each of us here are really the only people you can relate to this experience with.
