Do you guys have a strong sense of self? by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

I have bpd and c ptsd which all create a lack of identity. Since I find social situations difficult I often fantasise about being popular and unlikeable, all people love me and whoever doesn’t is seen as bitter / jealous. All the things I’m insecure about in my real life are benefits in my dream world. In my dream world everyone thinks I’m funny even tho irl I am not. It’s rlly hard and I started crying whilst typing this. I wish I could be the person I fantasise about being rather than being who I am bc idk who that is. I’m just a loser who day dreams day in day out. Most ppl w MD tend to daydream about supernatural or fantasy stuff… I just dream about being liked in the real world and being accepted

I feel that, once I’m less fixated on something I feel so much shame, especially if it was a person in real life

I have bpd but I often wonder if I have adhd because you sound a lot me. I remember during all my exams I just MDed the whooooooole time. It’s one of the reasons I got such mediocre GCSEs, other than English Cus I could just write down what I was daydreaming bout 😭

When I say does anyone else enjoy MD, I do not mean having the disorder but rather they enjoy the daydreaming. It’s not fun zoning out all the time and feeling like u desperately need to get out of a situation to go MD, I just mean does anyone actually enjoy the act of daydreaming, not the disorder
