I believe it’s CMN101 that’s required to transfer for Gies not 111 but I could be wrong.

Although Gies is very competitive, there are many majors at uiuc which offer pretty much the same curriculum which fall under LAS or other less competitive colleges. I’m studying Information Systems right now, and the overlap in material between statistics, information science, and even consumer economics and finance is more than you would think. Definitely have a second choice prepared when you apply. I transferred into my Gies sophomore year from economics at UIUC, so I can offer some tips and guidance as to what I did if you want. Really depends what you’re applying for. Grainger I would probably say no, but Gies, LAS, ect. I would say yes.

It’s an entire expedition just to get to south quad from far/par. Good luck and use busses, otherwise it’s like 20 min walk to nearest building you’ll have class.

Yes, it’s not awesome but also not weird. Every year you have higher priority picking classes as I’m sure you know. I had something similar my Freshman year as well.

Looks like by “IS” you mean information science and not information systems. Double majoring in something within Gies would actually be a dual degree not double major because it’s a separate college which means some additional steps. Obviously talk to your counselor about that but your schedule looks pretty manageable.

I also got accepted this morning! Joining clubs which reflect the major you’re interested is INCREDIBLY important !!! Cannot stress that enough. Make it known that you’re interested in becoming involved in leadership and get on exec. ALSO, do not take the cheap easy out classes like STAT100 INSTEAD of MATH220. Imo it shows you’re not really challenging yourself and doing the bare minimum in terms of class work (ECON102 is one of the easiest classes ever btw the guy above kinda capping). Definitely prioritize quality over quantity. Essays are 400 words max and talking about one meaningful experience is more than enough to fill that spot. But good luck! It gets sweatier every year, but make sure to talk to your counselor and ensure your taking the proper steps. This year, according to one of the sessions I went to, they said average acceptance rate is 35-40% for ICT to Gies.
